Hello friends, this is the figure of Spotted wobbegong (  Orectolobus maculatus ) Bonaparte, 1834 of Schleich - Sea Life. Total lenght is 110 mm. This figure was relased in 2005 and it was retired.

Schleich released in 2005 another line of sea animals out scale, but they have a great collection of sea animals that currently, they are retired. This figure was one of the fisrt of this line and hammerhead shark was one of the last. I think that this figure is a nice reply of this animal. Sculpture, stand and details are very cool. I think that currently it is a beautiful and great figure. I think that it is one of few figures of this shark. I bought this figure in a store in Cadiz( Spain ) in 2006.

I don't think there are any other carpet shark/wobbegong figures out there, which is probably why the Schleich one commands so much money whenever it is up for sale.

And it's such a great figure! Even the complex colour pattern is very well made. 8)

I agree, this such a nice model for the species. It does command a high price when available online. Just have to be lucky to find one that's reasonably priced.

I guess I should update this! There is now at least one other, a Nayab wobbegong. Still not as nice as the Schleich (the goold old days). For one thing, it's blue and green which is weird!

@sbell the schleich wobbegong should be more laterally compressed, mouth is kinda off and is missing an anal fin. Hopefully we get a better one on the future. Maybe safari will make one
