@JimoAi - is that the Takara version?

If it is, make sure to specify which one!

I'll see what shark looks appealing to me for a post

I don't have the CollectA sharks yet and don't anticipate that I'll get them before Shark Week. I was considering saving the goblin shark for around Halloween and angel shark for around Christmas anyway.

Looking at my list of reserved figures I see that the Safari white-tip reef shark is on there so I suppose that's the one I'll review. I would like to do another one but I'll have to see what I can find that has not been reviewed yet.

You can put me down for the 11th for the Safari whitetip shark. If I get another I'll reserve a second date.

EDIT: Ok, I see that the Safari shortfin mako has not been reviewed. I will reserve that one, I guess the 15th will work.

That's a long time to wait for the goblin shark! It's been out for months already!

I'm thinking I might go to the deep well again. I'll write up the K&M 'exotic sharks' Swell shark.

I may also do the Caribbean reef shark from the same series. Separately though.

They're small and will probably need more write up than normal photos require. I don't have the rest of the set anymore though (hammerhead, white, whale sharks, maybe one other).

As for dates, I'm not picky. I can fit in wherever.

Yeah, but I wait until all of CollectA's figures have been released before placing an order so that I can save on shipping. Although it appears that everything I want is available on Minizoo so perhaps I will get the goblin and angel shark in time after all.

In that case, I'll keep the dates for the 11th and 15th but the figures I review might change.  :P

bmathison1972

I have updated the first post with a tentative schedule. If there are more reviews planned than days, we can extend into the following week, or double post on some days (I don't mind sharing a day with someone if need be)

I certainly don't need two days either, I'm just anticipating that there won't be enough interest to get a review every day from a different member. I could be wrong and will drop a day if I have to.

I'd forgotten that Takara made one of those. U was thinking of the Deep Sea capsule series ones!

They've made a lot of goblin sharks apparently

@JimoAi - if it's the 2022 version here (https://animaltoyforum.com/index.php?topic=2935.msg34633#msg34633) then the set is called 'The Shark Vol. 2'

Alright, I decided to stick with the two Safari figures for Shark Week. It would have been cool to review the new CollectA sharks but I want to get the reviews written sooner than later and I don't know how long in will take a package from Australia to get here. Also, I think I might wait until CollectA's 2023 releases reach a U.S. distributor like Happy Hen. Sorry if that disappoints anyone, but lets not pretend that your decision to get either figure actually hinged on my opinion of it.  :P It will still be fun to review them for Halloween and Christmas.

If I remember correctly, HHT says they have no say in what they get from CollectA. They may not get one or both of the sharks. Perhaps @HappyHen can refresh my memory. Getting CollectA in the US is increasingly difficult.

It's all dependent on the one authorized distributor. Who is mostly focused on horse and pet.

And CollectA really started cracking down. Dejankins was ordering from a Swiss distributor, but they got warnings about losing their distribution if they did that. It's been really hard for retailers to take advantage of a great brand.

And even when they broaden, it takes a long time.

I stick to MiniZoo. @HappyHen doesn't ship to Canada anyway.

It's ridiculous that this is the state of things in the 21st century.  ::) The scarcity of CollectA in the U.S. is why I often go with Safari figures (or others) even if I like CollectA's offering better. But I guess folks on the other side of the pond have the reverse issue.

If Happy Hen doesn't get all the CollectA 2023 figures I need then I'll go with Minizoo, which is what I've done in the past anyway. I like and trust Minizoo but the shipping is often painful. I still doubt that I would get the sharks fast enough for me to have time to review them (Shark Week is only 3 weeks away) but I will definitely get and review them eventually, one way or another.

bmathison1972

My Minizoo orders take on average 2 weeks, with standard 'no signature' shipping.
Another benefit of Minizoo, is that their prices are in AUD which favors us in the US with USD  C:-)

I go to Minizoo for Collecta; HappyHen for everything else

Two weeks sounds about right. I don't recall, my last Minizoo order was last fall...for the 2022 CollectA figures.
