hey all,

especially regulars like @suspsy @sirenia @JimoAi @callmejoe3 @sbell @Gwangi @stargatedalek @Birdsage @animaltoyforum

Gwangi and I have (independently, I might add) come up with the fun idea of a Halloween-themed October for the Blog! Of course, this is not required, and all animals will be accepted per usual, but at least Gwangi and I will be doing reviews are creepy, crawly, scary, etc.

Specifically for the week of October 25-31 it might be fun to do a Halloween week, much like we did for Shark Week.

So bring on your black cats, bats, rats, spiders, scorpions, venomous snakes, ravens, owls, centipedes, etc. etc. etc. Check the 'Schedule' thread; some may have already been reserved :).

If you don't have anything that meets this criteria, continue to submit whatever you like  ;D ;D ;D

suspsy

I'm not sure we have any truly "scary" animals in our household. I'll have to dig around and check.

JimoAi

I'll have to dig around. Pretty sure I'm the scariest animal around

I briefly thought about reviewing a human, they are definitely the scariest animal. But no, I'm not actually going to do that.

Got an Austrailian Magpie, does that count?

Whatever you want! Then again, it is kinda like an Australian raven :-D

suspsy

Okay, I actually did just pick up something for my sons' menagerie that can easily be made Halloween-themed: the Schleich mother wolf with two cubs.

Was considering the aquatales vampire squid, but not sure if that has been claimed for a review on the schedule as part of the set.

Scratch that, it isn't. Could I reserve the vampire squid from hell for my Halloween review please?

Awesome, it's all yours!

Lanthanotus

I would add the Papo Scorpion if noone claimed it yet.

As I haven't got a lot of animals that fit the criteria, I think I will do my Vampire squid on the week, as it best fits for the theme. Can we ask for certain days of that week now?

If you want to secure a specific day, sure! I won't have blog/forum access starting this afternoon until Monday afternoon or evening sometime, so I won't be able to update the calendar during that time period. Just put your request in the 'Blog Schedule' thread so others see it, just in case.

Not sure what constitutes scary...probably something deep sea and toothy. Or are we talking more 'traditionally' spooky halloween?

Maybe I'll pull out a ghost shark! Or black ghost knife...

All I can think off is the kaiyodo sea snake or some deep sea fish like the viperfish I've reserved

Any arthropod, snake, or lizard (with the probable exception of iguanas) would fit the idea. Sharks are a bit more subjective but most deep sea fish would certainly be considered generally spooky. Open ocean sharks are more "oh no get out of here scary" than "uncomfortable scary", ala tigers or bears.

The wordplay of this however is decidedly even better.
Trans rights are human rights.

Gwangi

It seems like a pretty informal affair. I'm sticking with classic Halloween critters but you could give just about any animal a spooky spin to it. Deep sea animals are certainly monstrous and bizarre enough to work. A black ghost knife would be fun, I love that idea.

I'm going with the Ghost shark for wordplay reasons...probably a week or so. It's scary, but not "AAAAH!" scary. Maybe the ghost knife will show up later!

JimoAi

I hope the viperfish does fit the criteria
