With admin's permission, I updated the first post with all available pics to date.

Did you happen to also come into possession of images of the fantasy creatures? I'm curious to see what the new Eldrador beasts are like; I started buying them this year for my boys!

Gwangi

Nothing terribly interesting, except perhaps the stork. I see that it's a European stork, I'll likely get it unless there's a better figure of the species out there that I'm not aware of. Still curious about the slow loris. The only prehistoric animal I'm interested in is the Nothosaurus.

Sable Antelope

👀
Schleich has not impressed me much in recent years, but some of these look pretty cute. Very excited to see the bull terrier in a color other than the classic white with a "bullseye". Wonder how she would look next to the Papo bully. Lop is cute and I like the coloring on the iguana. Dinosaurs are a meh as are the horses.

I love greyhounds, but that looks more like an Afghan or Saluki to me! Nevertheless sighthounds are always welcome in my collection 😊

I think the Papo stork with chick is better, but it's a two-for-one figure

Yeah someone proposed Afghan over greyhound; I wonder if 'greyhound' was something lost in translation.

For me, I really like the iguana's sculpt, but I'd prefer the typical green form. I think I'll only get the scorpion, for now.

Images of all the remaining toys are now hitting social media. Have to say, I am not impressed with next year's crop of wild animals. Hopefully CollectA and Safari have more exciting stuff in store.

Gwangi

It seems Schleich has released a few storks over the years, and I personally like this one the best. I find it so weird that these companies retire their toys and then release the same exact species again, just keep them in production.

bmathison1972

that one does look much better than the upcoming one.

Sure would be nice to see a heron or a stork figure with its wings spread as opposed to folded all the time.

Gwangi

I actually prefer folded wings and relaxed postures, they display more naturally for me. I realize that also makes me boring.  :P

pachyrhinosaurus

The final figures are somewhat disappointing after such a promising species list. I much prefer the earlier Schleich stork, tapir, and flamingo that I already have in my collection. The mandrill reminds me of the one from the Wild Republic polybag. On the other hand, the iguana looks rather nice and is an improvement over the old version.

I think Schleich peaked in 2011 and have been going downhill since then. I used to be so excited for the new releases, but now I mostly look through eBay for older pieces I didn't pick up when I had the chance.

I'll be adding pics of the baby tapir, loris, puma, Styracosaurus, and beaver later today/tonight.

Gwangi

Well, I was looking forward to seeing the slow loris, but I'm not impressed. All well.

bmathison1972

only the scorpion for me next year!

@Gwangi - thanks for this. I just hunted this one down to replace the Papo version!

pachyrhinosaurus

I don't think the slow loris is half bad. It isn't the best of the bunch-- the hands and feet are a bit large and the paint isn't very detailed, but I'll get one when it's out. The mountain lion is pretty good, too. Once again, the paintwork could be improved but it's a lot better than Schleich's other cats. The tapir calf could also have done with better paint. At least a spray of a lighter brown on the flanks.

On a side note, now I wish my local zoo would still have Schleich animals in their shop. For years they had the lioness as a stand-in for a mountain lion and it kind of bothered me to see it there since the zoo only exhibits North American animals.

Gwangi

No problem @bmathison1972, I might have to get one myself.
