Four pages of reviews in less than a month. Impressive.

It's easy with moderns.... there's so many!

We should do theme months or something!

No, I would prefer to mix taxa and companies randomly. This is especially true to respect Guest Reviewers.

It really is, I can't believe how quickly the Animal Toy Blog's roots have taken hold!

I'm not all that surprised. If anything, I'm surprised the ATB didn't start years sooner.

One thing I do find interesting is that there is yet to be a review of any of the really popular animals. No elephant, no giraffe, no lion, no tiger, no bear, no rhino, no hippo, and no giant panda. I'm sure it's only a matter of time, though.

I noticed the same thing. I am sure it will change, esp if we can get more Guest Reviewers who are general collectors. Because my non-arthropod collection is 'synoptic' I only have one of each species.

Or dogs, cats, horses. Yes, I think we will see some as a more diverse array of collectors join our reviewing ranks.  ^-^

I was thinking about this and I reckon it is because the blog has sprouted from the ATF community. It was the other way around with the Dino Toy Blog, where the forum community sprouted from the blog.

Safari LTD grey reef shark by suspsy: http://animaltoyforum.com/blog/2019/09/12/grey-reef-shark-wild-safari-sealife-by-safari-ltd/

I was going to wait a couple days, since his tiger shark was just posted 2 days ago, but there is nothing else in the queue at the moment :-)

Maybe I'll throw something together for tomorrow if no one else has plans...

EDIT: I threw something together, to be released 9/13 at 10:00 am Blog time. It is a carryover from one of my walkarounds...

Looks like it's shark week around here.  :P I noticed that my last review was edited to include "Wild Safari Sealife", I didn't include that because I wasn't sure if there even was a distinct sea life line in 1997, it wasn't because I'm lazy.  O:-)

bmathison1972

I made that edit but you are right, their may not have been such a line in 1997. However, when the line was created, that figure was moved into it. I wonder if we/I should change it back?

suspsy

That was my last Safari review. Moving on to CollectA now . . .

If it was moved into that line than I think it's fine to keep it that way. I honestly wasn't sure, I'm not as up to speed with extant animal figures as I am the extinct ones.

Safari has always referred to their wildlife, sea life, and dinosaur lines specifically. I think to differentiate from their higher end ones like Carnegie, Monterey Bay, and vanishing wildlife.

Nice and I must admit, I knew this would be your first post. Either this, or the saiga or musk ox...either way, a CollectA bovid  ;D ;D ;D.

I have been struggling with categories for the bovids, since there are so many figures of them. I was thinking:

1. Cattle (Bovinae: Bovini)
2. Sheep and Goats (Caprinae)
3. Antelopes (essentially, everything else).

These would not be monophyletic groupings, but it does divide them nicely by common and familiar terms. When I uploaded brontodocus' Brahman bull, I made the category 'Cattle' for it.

Well, I got another one up...

The Colorata Aye-aye!

Who would have thought I'd hit the first primate figure? But it needed to be done.
