We are on a roll with guest reviews; next up, the next plushie by Suspsy: http://animaltoyforum.com/blog/2020/04/27/spotted-eagle-ray-wild-republic-by-km-international/

Still got at least three more plush reviews to come.

you must have a....soft spot...for them

Well, they're all souvenirs from different aquariums I've visited across North America. And my older boy certainly enjoys them now. :)

We have a lot of Wild Republic plushes too, and the Folkmanis puppets. Most are souvenirs "for my daughter" from zoos, wildlife refuges, museums, aquariums etc. Now she's old enough to pick them out herself and I was heartbroken when she picked out a mermaid from the National Aquarium instead of the nudibranch. No amount of convincing could sway her.  :-\

Ugh. Aquariums should not be selling fantasy toys.

Was that the National Aquarium in Washington DC that closed back in 2013? I went there that summer. Got to see the piranhas being fed.

I wasn't thrilled to see the mermaids there, I tried to steer her away from their direction but it didn't work out. But I agree, gift shops should focus more on educational toys. I'm sure they sell well though.

The one I went to is in Baltimore.

Ah yes, I believe that's where they sent all the animals from DC!

I didn't even know there ever was a  National Aquarium in DC before you mentioned it. I thought that you must have confused Baltimore with DC. I had to look it up.

Probably the longest stretch between my posts, today I am back with something special I bought for myself for my birthday earlier this month. It arrived yesterday:

Yes, it was one of the oldest aquariums in the US. Very small compared to most. A basement location consisting of a single circle with tanks along the walls. I went there once with my parents during my first trip to DC back in 1986, and then by myself in 2013. The first trip was particularly exciting because we got to see the lemon and nurse sharks being fed.

I also picked up the Carnegie Ichthyosaurus on my second trip.

I'm still kicking myself over never acquiring the Carnegie Icthyosaurus and Tylosaurus when I had the chance.  >:( :'(

Like the phrase "food premium". Not heard it before, must use it more often!

'Premium' is commonly used to describe giveaways, whether with food products, books and magazines, or medical and veterinary products.
