Hi all, so as is not a surprise, I like my fish models. I have many, and have a certain type that I usually collect.

However, I also have a habit of getting all 'taxonomic' when I collect (I'm not necessarily a 'set' completist. but I do like my cladograms filled out...), and there are certain groups for which I have nothing--and also can't seem to find anything! Even the TAI doesn't list for (almost) any of them...of course, I have issues with the TAI groupings, but that's just me and my craziness!

I also know that many fish are missing, so I'm hoping that I just don't know about/haven't found some yet.

So first, the only one I have found a record of:

Beloniformes--I would really like a needlefish figure; the only one I know of is the MPC. Which is nice enough, but monochrome and costs too much for a small plastic fish. Any others?

(Okay, now it gets esoteric):

1) [strike]Alepocephaliformes (smoothheads, slickheads, tubeshoulders, etc) (formerly part of Osmeriiformes but apparently not so muych anymore...recently separated far from them in Alepocephali)

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/specieslist.php?famcode=87&areacode=
http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/specieslist.php?famcode=533&areacode=[/strike] FOUND!

2) 'Anotophysans' = Gonorhychiformes. Milkfish, Shellear, Kneria, Hingemouth and...others

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=Gonorynchiformes&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

3) Lepidogalaxiiformes--Australian salamanderfish (another 'osmeriforme' that for now, isn't). I can't believe there isn't a Yowie or something of this one...

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=&famcode=466&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

4) Atelopodiformes. Jellynose fish

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=Ateleopodiformes&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

5) Percopsiformes. Trout-perch, Pirate perch, cavefishes. Again, how are there no figures of these?

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=Percopsiformes&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

6) Zeiformes. Dories & Oreos. Given that some of these are food fish, you'd think there'd be a figure...

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=Zeiformes&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

7) Polymixiiformes. Beardfish

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=Polymixiiformes&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

8. Batrachoidiformes. Toadfish. Again, it feels like there could be one out there.

http://www.fishbase.ca/identification/SpeciesList.php?class=&order=Batrachoidiformes&areacode=&c_code=&spines=&fins=&resultPage=1&sortby=species

So thanks in advance...if any of these can be found, it would be appreciated. If only so that I can get pointed in the right direction!

I have thought of that...but some are so boring looking, it feels like it would be a waste. Plus, kind of expensive in the long run! But it may go that way!

I have some stock 3D models in my library that could pass as these (one explicitly is a milkfish!), the only issue is they would need new fins made before they could be printed as currently most have 2D alpha channels for their fins.

If you're at all interested I'll get some screenshots for you. Making the fins is not difficult and after that I could put them up on whatever printing service you prefer (my printer is still on the fritz) or send you the models if you have access to a printer yourself.

Quite surprised to hear there hasn't ever been a john dory made.

I would love to see the milkfish! I don't have a printer, but I uploaded to Shapeways once, I'm sure I could do it again!

And yeah...you'd think, given the economic importance of the dories, and their unique appearance, that there would be at least one figure from a European company!
