The Megasoma elephas next to the DeAgostini one is made by f-toys ;-)

OK, based on the paper I understood that Itakon was the mfr? I also have a Dynastes satanas.

It was from one of the sets 'Strongest insects set' of F-toys. They included some nice big models. The 2008 set was huge and very rare. I will post my f-toys collection soon!

Line-up set 2008: 1. Dynastes hercules hercules (yellow), 2. Eupatorus gracillicornis, 3. Megasoma acteon, 4. Chalcosoma caucasus(big), 5. Prosopocoilus giraffa. 6. Dorcus palawanicus 7. Dynastes hercules lichyi (grey) (secret)
Line-up set 2009: 1. Dynastes hercules hercules (dark yellow), 2. Dynastes neptunus (big), 3. Dorcus titanus, 4. Chalcosoma atlas (big), 5. prosopocoilus confucius.
Line-up set 2010: 1. Dynastes hercules lichyi (blue), 2. Dynastes satanas, 3. Megasoma elephas, 4. Chalcosoma Moellenkampi (big), 5. Hexarthrius mandibularis (with not so correct mandibles).
To beetle or not to beetle.

I edited Reply #27 to include all Dynastes (since I have been putting all members of other genera together...)

the box crab, Calappa lophos.
[I wasn't going to do another tonight but this is one of my favorite species so I just did it...]

1. Kaiyodo (Capsule Q Japanese Crabs Collection)
2. Kaiyodo (Kurioso Komekko Series 2)

Aw, I always thought the D. hercules were always the same sculpt/cast in different colour versions. I have the 2010 series and thought that was a D. h. hercules, too. And I thought I didn't have any model representing D. h. lichyi! :o On the other hand the hook at the tip of the cephalic horn is not as pronounced as I would have expected for a lichyi.

Finally I see your four-legged Smithsonian Morpho menelaus! :o At first I was going to accuse you of toy figure mutilation but then I remembered our discussion about it here: http://animaltoyforum.com/index.php?topic=906.msg11760#msg11760

Tonight, the random number generator landed on one of the barnacles. All of the figures I have are from a set released by Kitan Club - Nature Techni Colour. So, here they all are.

I. Balanus rostratus.
There are four figures here. Three combine together to form a cluster (with magnets inside them to help hold them close), and the fourth is a strap figure (that I removed the strap to make a cluster of four).

II. Japanese goose barnacle, Capitulum mitella.
Two figures, independent and different figures with internal magnets.

photo hosting sites

III. Turtle barnacle, Chelonibia testudinaria.
Two figures, of the same sculpt; one is a solid figure and one is a pin.

photo hosting sites

IV. Conchoderma virgatum.
One figure, a strap figure (for which I removed the strap).

photo hosting sites

V. Fistulobalanus albicostatus.
Two figures, both with magnets. [marketed as Amphibalanus albicostatus.]

photo hosting sites

VI. Megabalanus rosa.
Two figures. One is a pin but the other is remarkable: it is split down the center revealing a cross-section of the internal anatomy! Truly the most amazing in the set for this reason!

VII. Thatched barnacle, Semibalanus cariosus.
Two small figures, both with magnets.

VIII. Scapellum stearnsi.
One figure, a strap figure (and displayed on a marine snail shell), for which I removed the strap.

IX. Japanese acorn barnacle, Tetraclita japonica.
Two figures, one a regular solid figure and one a pin to wear.

Yes, the 4D Master Atlas Beetle looks a bit off but still C. atlas is probably the best match due to the cephalic horn's shape.

I think the small one of the Prosopocoilus dissimilis (number 6) is actually a Hexarthrius mandibularis considering the head.

Yeah, I wasn't crazy about my ID but I went by the shape of the mandibles (it's also a bit dark for P. dissimilis). I really like those little guys on the logs but sometimes the lines between Prosopocoilus/Hexarthrius or Dorcus/Hexarthrius blur...

I have re-evaluated and I agree with you. I will try and make the changes later but it will require manipulating/taking/re-taking images.
