I've acquired the Bullyland buzzard, red-tailed hawk and great grey owl.  I love the first two, and I'm happy with the owl too.  I'm keeping both the Bullyland version of it and the Safari great grey owl, I find both have their good points.  I'm surprised that the red kite and owl are retired, they are excellent figures.  Bullyland is so good at birds, particularly ones no-one else makes.  I'm especially happy to have a figure of the common buzzard, my currently favourite modern animal!

Brett has kindly helped me obtain a number of Safari products!

The salmon shark, porbeagle and sand tiger shark.  They are all nice, my favourite is the sand tiger shark which looks better in person than in photos.

The raven, which is sculpted very well, but something about its head stops me from wanting to keep it.  It'll go in my sales thread.

The backyard birds toob and European animals toob.  The first one is just great, I got it for the American robin which is one of my favourite species.  The European animals toob I won't be keeping as while its figures are sculpted very well, I've decided that I don't need them in my collection.

I've also had my Schleich greylag goose with wings open have its base removed by the talented Martin Garrat!  I'm surprised he did such a good job as the figure is made of hard plastic and the base is quite close-fitting to other parts of the figure. Now, it's joined my collection!

Sim

I've acquired the Mojo toucan and Schleich standing female mallard.  I've had their bases removed by Martin Garratt!  Funnily enough, the toucan still stands even without its base!  I'm happy to have got these as they were among my most wanted animals and it was just their bases that were stopping me from having figures of them.  Martin did an amazing job removing them and now I have great figures of these two types of animal!

Here are some recent-ish acquisitions from the past few months, including a few holy grails.

bigsqueezeangler.jpg

First here is a large squishy anglerfish that appears to have been heavily inspired by the CollectA anglerfish, and there they are next to each other.  Also just a random note, it smells like magazine pages.

greenangler.jpg

Here is a mysterious green anglerfish I've never previously seen marked N3536, Mattel, Viacom and China, and dated 2008.  Interestingly while the brand names are identified I have no idea what set, game or property this figure may be from.

beardedangler.jpg

Here is the DeAgostini bearded anglerfish, one of my old holy grails which I had all but stopped looking for since it was generally so difficult to obtain over here.  Then suddenly a bunch of them showed up all at once.  It is an extremely rare species in terms of figures made for it, with the only other one I know of being a vintage jiggler of an unknown brand I once spotted in a Worthpoint listing.

sunwaicowfish.jpg

Another holy grail, and one I was keeping a more active search for, this longhorn cowfish I can now confirm to be Sun Wai branded.

slugsandthings.jpg

CollectA cuttlefish along with an unbranded cuttlefish, Safari snail and at long last, another holy grail - half of the notoriously rare Play Visions sea slug set.  They are about comparable with the size of the Safari nudibranch and hollow underneath.

romcambrianset.jpg

While not necessarily one I had thought of as a holy grail, I was pretty stoked to find the entire ROM Burgess shale series, I had hoped to come across it eventually but never really expected to.

prehistoricgang.jpg

Last but not least a couple more Earth Story(?) prehistoric mammals (paraceratherium and elasmotherium) and the Safari shringasaurus

bmathison1972

Very nice goodies; especially the complete ROM set and some of those PV nudibranchs  :o

Saarlooswolfhound

Wow, you have found some really splendid items! Congratulations!

Thanks you guys I appreciate    ;D

I've acquired the CollectA 2015 great white shark.  I wanted a figure of this species that was larger than my other sharks, excluding the whale shark as it felt a bit weird having a tiger shark, bull shark, etc. larger than my great white sharks.  The CollectA great white shark achieves being bigger than them!  I still think my Toymany and Schleich great white sharks are better than the CollectA but I'm happy to have the larger CollectA too!  I think now the great white shark is the modern species I have the most figures of, with three figures.

JimoAi

Haven't really got the mood to post but here's what I've gotten recently:

Kaiyodo flying fox. Got the white female due to its resemblance to Rouge from the Sonic series

Sonic the Hedgehog cosbi set. Got the secret which took up Rouge's spot

Mojo wooly mammoth

Schleich polar bear

Pnso Guizuoicthyosaurus. Contender for figure of the year for me

Hammond collection spinosaurus

bigsailfishes.jpg

I got a couple large sailfishes, the one on the left seems to have the brand-name King Me World listed on the box (I think the figures are Happy Kin?) and the other seems to be a brand called "Temminck" which I've never heard of.

minifigures.jpg

The box set also came with a spotted wobbegong, whale shark and two connected butterfly fish; the packaging had screws implanted into the figures themselves, which I don't recall seeing before.

sailfishbothsides.jpg

The sailfish has an ocean wave base, which you also need to unscrew to remove.

sailfishsunfish.jpg

Base-wise it reminds me a little of the Safari ocean sunfish, although being screwed in makes it a bit more unusual.  Also if you have it standing flat on its base you need to turn the sailfish's tail to the side.

temminck-swordsailfish.jpg

The Temminck sailfish has only the brand name and not the species name; the King Me/Happy Kin sailfish doesn't have the brand written on it but has "sword sailfish" on its tail.

sailfishsizecompare.jpg

Size comparison with other figures.

realsailfishwithmodels.jpg

Size comparison with an actual sailfish.

I am curious, is anyone familiar with the brand Temminck?  the only Temminck figure I can seem to find listed anywhere is this one.

Isidro

You have a quite decent collection of sailfishes! The Temminck one is very well done.
Please, what is the largest of the two swordfishes of the lower right corner?

NSD Bashe

That one is the Boley marlin, there are a few of listings for it on eBay and Mercari.  I think it's technically supposed to be a blue marlin although it resembles a swordfish quite a bit.

Small mail call from China

An Ikimon Sacabambaspis because how could I not?

And two fish from Oeneux, a Chinese company that often reproduces oversized or miniaturized versions of known figures.

An artic char that might be a giant version of the Colorata white spotted char (same genus, well executed markings to differentiate) and a giant trevally, which took me a while, but I figured out is based on a Favorite figure (but without a base).

Of course, I only figured that out after I got it.

I think the collectA great white is a pretty poor representation of the species esp with the paint job, the nose being too pointy and how short the gills are but its size and the fins being largely correct saves it from being another bargain bin toy

For my case, I am planning to use the favorite co soft model megalodon as an exceptionally large specimen as the anatomy matches out. Bought mine in 2017 and I'm sure I have it in storage somewhere. Idc if it's larger than the orca in my shelf but least it's larger than my other sharks except the whale shark and isn't made of the crappy TPE of the Schleich sharks

bmathison1972

FINALLY! Got 'em! The last remaining Safari Smithsonian insects, the bumble bee trio. Well, actually I had two of them, but finding a set of three (in original packaging, nonetheless), I was able to secure all three at once (probably easier than hunting for the last one I needed). My search parameters are 'Safari Ltd.' and 'bumblebee'; the seller was advertising these as 'honeybees' so I am glad it came up! LOL

check em out, @Shane @sphyrna18

hahaha. Don't I wish! That was the original price. I think I paid around $30, but worth it.

Shane

Very nice score!

I had a couple of these once, but man those wings do NOT hold up. I'm impressed you found one with the wings all still in tact.

Great find!

First post, and it's big I guess  8)

I've had my eye on the PNSO and Kaiyodo 1:35 blue whales for one to go with my 1:35 collection for a while, but when I recently had a shot to get one of the limited edition models by Sumeru studio I decided to jump on it. It is similar in size to the PNSO model, at about 92cm along the centra adding up to a ~32m individual. Sorry for the rushed photos with indoor lighting, it does not do the model any justice. Cameos by 1:35 African elephant and dude.

I've recently acquired:

1. The Bullyland great green macaw.  It's a nice figure but I don't like a few things about it, such as its very large size, the position of its tail feathers which prevent it standing even on its base, the lack of yellow on the underside of its wing and tail feathers...  I've not kept it.  I'm hoping Toymany includes a great green macaw in their parrot set @Kenc!

2. The newest Schleich rooster.  I had been thinking I wouldn't collect domestic animals even though I have the CollectA turkey and one of the Kaiyodo leopard geckos from a pet series, but I've grown to love living chickens and the Schleich rooster is the best figure of one in my opinion.  I got its base removed by Martin Garratt and I'm happy with it!

3. A set of Wing Mau snakes!  I've currently decided to keep half of them and have some repainted to better look like their species, but I'm considering keeping a couple more as well.

4. The CollectA lobster!  I only learnt of this figure existing a few days ago when CollectA posted a recreation of an underwater scene with some of their figures in it, including the lobster.  I had missed this figure's existence because I wasn't collecting modern animal figures when it was released and it doesn't have a page on the Toy Animal Wiki (which I intend to change soon!).  I got the impression it would be large when I saw its price, but I decided to get it anyway.  I hoped it would be around the same size as the Papo lobster and it is about twice the size of it, but it's also not as big as I was afraid it would be.  I've decided to keep it and I'm very happy with it!  I love lobsters (not to eat, I tasted one once and disliked the flavour!)!
