...it's hard not to have a huge Toymany order LOL. They have been killing it lately and only signs of getting better!

Sim

I don't feel that way...  Toymany has been very mammal focused for some time, and these mammals don't interest me.  I'm not interested in frogs either.  I preferred the days when Toymany was producing sharks and penguins.  I am interested in the parrot set Toymany was developing but according to the latest announcement it isn't expected anytime soon. :-\

Great acquisitions though Ryujin! :)

JimoAi

Yea time to take a break from Toymany cuz I'm not interested in terrestrial mammals. GG save up for the fish/rays set they teased last year

RyujinGodOfTheSea

Yeah, that's fair. My favorite group are aquatic animals but Toymany has been killing it in other regards as well.

BlueKrono

IMO they have one of the best frog sets ever made. Just the pacman frog leaping is worth the price of admisssion!
I like turtles.

sbell

I have my wishlist. Just waiting for the next set of interest (lemurs!)
Don't think the fish are coming for a while

I realize this is the lesser supported opinion in this group but- mammals in general are more appealing to general populace than other (psychologically less familiar) species like fish and insects. Toymany is still a *very* young company trying to set up shop (first appearance was 2021 I believe and only available on Amazon). It takes time to make a reputation and that legacy must be built on the species/figures that sell well. The curiosities will come. It just takes time. I have been asking for a wild dog set of figures for over a decade now from every big brand at every opportunity and to date have not been recognized let alone indulged for it. But the time will come (when someone recognizes that wild dogs have value and should arguably sell pretty well given their familiarity to us...) but I digress...

Congrats to everyone in the splendid new additions!

Sim

I'm surprised no-one is making a wild dog set, considering how often wild cats get made.  And then there's parrots which are probably the third-most popular type of pet, after dogs and cats, and CollectA hasn't made any!

I'd also like to add that while not all their products may appeal to you- Toymany has been quite groundbreaking with both species and breed selection and releasing figures in very unique (and still realistic) postures. They *are* producing exciting things even as a young company, though some might prefer x, y, and z, be more of a focus that does not mean they are overly fixated on mammals. They are setting themselves up for financial success.

Ok, now I'm done. ;)

Agree with Paige 100%.

Not every company's releases are going to cater to every individual collector's wishes. In a very short amount of time as a young company, Toymany has been producing very high quality figures at a price point cheaper than major western brands. And it's clear they listen to the concerns and wishes of people on the forums (e.g., the fossa expected later this year).

Anyway this discussion is getting a bit sidetracked for Recent Acquisitions. If one wants to continue, suggest moving to a Toymany-themed thread  C:-)

SerAndrew

As with any other brand, things may not appeal to you and can even get you upset if that trend extends in time...

That has happened me personally with some, specially as my collection gets complete. But still, ToyMany is doing great things. They are listening to us (and I think this is the only brand doing this at the moment) and the fact that they release sets made it posible for them to include rarer species.

+ there are several and diverse sets coming!!

It might be worth creating a thread and carving out the posts-- it's kind of an ongoing thing with people's reactions when they aren't seeing what they want.

And need to vent about it!

I recently received a rather unique plush from Japan—a three-banded armadillo, made by TST Advance. I named her Bolita. I just had to have her because she is the only three-banded armadillo plush I know of, especially of this realism. They should really make more plushies of this species, especially since this is my favorite species. Keep your eye out on the Animal Toy Blog for a review on her!
I'm a huge fan of South American wildlife.

Some new items that arrived before the weekend:

I put in a small order of on-sale/discount figures to "compliment" my Happy Hen review samples. Their arrival proved timely, too, since @Gwangi JUST reviewed the Lokiceratops over on the DTB! It's a winner of a figure for sure.
I already have Mojo's regular stoat and their barn owl, so I thought the ermine and snowy owl would pair nicely with them - although I have mixed feelings about the snowy. I'll have to give it a thorough examination sometime soon.

I decided to try out of the Diorama Mansion sets, and it arrived from Amazon with good timing. It took me a moment to figure out assembly (and taking it apart kind of scares me), but I'm liking it pretty well so far. I spent a good chunk of Friday doing photography experiments, some of which will probably make it into future reviews.

I ALSO tried my luck at a few more Yowie minifigures while stopping by Walmart. The chocolate eggs crumbled pretty much immediately upon opening (still tasted decent, though).
I ended up with a duplicate lynx cub, but I also acquired a baby African hedgehog and a "super animals" ruby-eyed green pitviper. Neat!

Gwangi

Not only is the Lokiceratops timely but the Yowie hedgehog is too @Fembrogon! I reviewed that one for the ATB last week. The Super Power series is from a couple years ago, I wonder if that chocolate was expired!

bmathison1972

Ooooo another user of Dioramansion! Not sure if you saw when I posted the 'quarry' one here @Fembrogon - but it's larger than others I have used in my posts (150 series). However, I am in the process of replacing some with this new 200 series since it allows for showing slightly larger figures.

Gwangi

I had never heard of Dioramansion before. I just got done looking at the selection on Amazon. Seems like they would be good for photography but they also seem somewhat small?

The 150 and 200 refer to the length of the sides (150mm and 200mm, so about 6inches and 8inches) They gear them towards 1/12 figures.

JimoAi

Really? I've shown them and mentioned them several times in the forum and they are featured in many of my blog and daily 'Museum' posts  :o  :P  8)
