I haven't posted in this thread for a while, but with a combination of both timing and coincidence, I have recently boosted my fish collection by 16 species with several eBay sets and lots! Thought this was the best place to show them all together.

For starters, three sharks by Larami:

Port Jackson shark, Heterodontus portjacksoni:

Sandbar shark, Carcharhinus plumbeus:

Blacktip shark, Carcharhinus limbatus:
[same sculpt as the sandbar, above]

Next, six fish from Learning Resources 'Fun Fish Counters' set. It's a set of 60 figures, 5 each of 12 different fish species. It's designed to be a counting game for children, but it's a good way to get some very rarely made or unique species of fish!

Bluering angelfish, Pomacanthus annularis:

Green chromis, Chromis viridis:

Blackwedged Butterflyfish, Chaetodon falcula:

Foxface rabbitfish, Siganus vulpinus:

Longfin fairy wrasse, Cirrhilabrus rubiventralis:

Orange spotted filefish, Oxymonacanthus longirostris:
[admittedly not the best, but it will do until I can get something better]

Next, six of the species in the coveted Club Earth Tropical Fish collection (I found a set of 10/12 figures on eBay!!!). Several of these are unique, or if not, where the foundation for later models. Animal Planet reissued several of these, for example.

Flame angelfish, Centropyge loricula:

Copperband butterflyfish, Chelmon rostratus:

Northern scythemarked butterflyfish, Prognathodes falcifer:

Powder-blue Tang, Acanthurus leucosternon:
[technically, this replaces the Animal Planet version in my collection, which was a reissue of the original Club Earth model]

Blacktail humbug, Dascyllus melanurus:

Red Sea clownfish, Amphiprion bicinctus:

And last, but certainly not least....the Safari Ltd. sockeye salmon, Oncorhynchus nerka!!!!

yeah the salmon is amazing.

Alopias superciliosus

Nice to see the Larami sharks in your collection!

I had a number of those fish as a kid, and they're still in my collection somewhere (I think at least, they could be the Animal Planet reissue)- did not know they were hard to find now!

Got these for some really good prices

Very nice. The Play Visions eels are one of my favorites!

I've seen them occasionally in lots and considered getting them but they were usually way more expensive, so I'm really glad I held off till now   ;D

It's not the Kayiodo Mega Sofubi Advanced blue whale? I tought you talked about buying it some weeks ago, but that you can't find the model for sale anywhere.

bmathison1972

@brettnj just mentioned in his email list that someone won the Mega Sofubi blue whale for a good price! Can't help to think that was you @JimoAi ;-)

Since coming back from Southeast Asia I've decided to expand my collection into mammals. I decided that I want to have a small subset of my collection to be a display of Southeast Asian fauna, so here's my first round of additions:

Going for a specifically Vietnamese collection but I understand that both animal ranges and national borders shift over time so I'm not being a stickler. But I did manage to find a holy-grail species that's also culturally one of the most important species to Vietnam: Rafetus swinhoei

My girlfriend commissioned it from DeClay Studio, a Vietnam-based 3D printing outfit that usually does dinosaurs but takes commissions. Here it is, in primed but unpainted form:

I'll make a customs thread to show y'all once I've painted it.
