Finally got some 2018 CollectA--the main ones I wanted!

And a horsetail just below the Estemmenosuchus! I think I finally got one to take hold (note the dried and dead ones near it...)

I've been waiting for someone to do one...next up, one of the not-meerkat mongooses!

New acquisition, from the Landesmuseum gift shop in Hanover. Bullyland thorny devil. Full walk-around will be coming soon.  :)

Isidro

Today I received the first shipping that I bought in internet instead finding them casually in shops.
This is what I bought:

1. Hirola (Beatragus hunteri) from CollectA. One of my most favourite bovines (probably the second favourite after saola), this critter is endemic of the Horn of Africa and it's in severe risk of extinction. Not present in any zoo in the world.

2. Giant eland (Taurotragus derbianus) from CollectA. Tragelaphini comprises some of the most magnific hoofstock, and the giant eland is maybe the most incredible of all. Much nicer than common eland.

3. Sumatran rhinoceros (Dicerorhinus sumatrensis) from Safari LTD. My favourite rhino because of its distinctiveness, and also critically endangered. There are no Sumatran rhinos in zoos since the lonely Harapan abandoned Cincinnati zoo for returning to Sumatra and help with in situ breeding program.

4. Chiru or Tibetan antelope (Pantholops hodgsonii) from CollectA. This delicate animal with incredible beautiful very long and thin horns inhabits the high plateaus of the Tibet, where the oxigen is poor, the vegetation is very scarce and the cold is intense. This figure was also who got me into collecting animal figurines, as I explained in my presentation post, and now I have it.

5. Saola (Pseudoryx nghetingensis) from CollectA. When this completely new genus of antelope was discovered in Vietnam as recently as in 1992, it was a sensational new. This poorly known animal is very timid and lives in dense jungles. It's seriously endangered and all attempts to keep it captive failed until now.

6. Whale shark (Rhincodon typus) from Papo. Worlds largest fish is, of course, largest figure of my shipping. Generally CollectA figures tend to have the best realistic quality compared with same species in other brands, but for whale shark I think Papo is undoubtely much better than any other, especially in the painting.

7. Pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps) from CollectA. I have a soft spot for cetaceans, and more for strange ones. Both species of dwarf sperm whales are some of my favourite cetacean. This is a very poorly known animal, very rarely seen except for extremely occasional beached specimens. One of these beached specimens was under rehab and care at SeaWorld San Diego recently, but not on show.

8. Ganges river dolphin (Platanista gangetica) from CollectA. River dolphins are animals that I like a lot, and the Gangetic is my most favourite of them. Unfortunately the figure don't stand straight on a flat surface, it turn to the left side.

9. Zebra shark (Stegostoma fasciatum) from CollectA. This is the only of these species that I've seen in captivity, but it's a classic favourite too like the others. In a similar way than whale shark, I think that this zebra shark is much better than any other brand for zebra shark. This one is just perfect, others are unrealistic or poor in my opinion.

10- Vaquita (Phocoena sinus) from Safari LTD. The smallest cetacean in the world is the next charismatic, big animal that will become extinct, very soon. Last census only counted 12 individuals. Population is crashing and despite all the enormous effort being done, the future of this species is sentenced.

Congratulations on some wonderful new figures! Thanks also for the descriptions. I sense some new walk-arounds on the horizon. ;)

This came last week! I was thinking where to place it; in the holy grail thread or here.

At first (when I started collecting) I was only going to collect DeAgostini beetles, F-Toys beetles and the Yujin ones. Things got a bit out of control later, I admit :-)

This Yujin 'The insect of Japan in colour' box has long been first on my want list, I should say the three "bonus" (not in any of the sets) figurines with it. Orthetrum albistylum speciosum (yellow version) with nymph, Oncotympana maculaticollis (freshly emerged), and Rosalia lesnei lesnei (a colour variation on Yujin's Rosalia (rosalia) batesi Harold. There is only room for 1 butterfly in the set (Erasmia pulchella). Yujin would greatly resolve this shortage of for many the most popular insect in set 3 and 4.
I invested in the butterflies of Yujin just this year. So these three, together with the "Bonus" Dorcus hopei binodulosus in the 'Beetles in colour' box set issued as a gift to Yujin shareholders, complete my Yujin collection.

Nicely fashioned box, a lot of attention put in!

Room for all the 32 insects from series 1 and 2.

Complete Line-up of the series 1 and 2

Rosalia lesnei lesnei

Orthetrum albistylum speciosum (yellow version) with nymph

Oncotympana maculaticollis (freshly emerged)

Next to the colour variant of series 1

The Yijin box sets are amazing, congratulations .

I've always wanted to get the complete freshwater fish one, but I just can't pay the required amount! Plus, there's one more even more rare figure that I'd have to get. And then the divorce would be really, really expensive!

Yes, these three were expensive to, but I wanted them to complete the set. Also now because I see the prices of some Yujin insects rocket on Yahoo. They are only getting more expensive even the figurines you could normally purchase for a good price.
I like the cristaceans box to, but thats a to high price for me.

These four 'big' birds arrived today. :) Difficult to choose between the Wild Safari and CollectA cassowaries, they are both excellent. The CollectA shoebill is stunning. The Papo marabou stork is a little sloppily done in comparison to the other three, but still has plenty of character. I've very happy with the quartet!

Nice haul Adam, beautiful birds!

I just got a big haul today, special thanks to @brettnj and Emiko for securing them and @Beetle guy for alerting me to some of them.

First, five amazing new species of crickets and katydids [a review coming later this evening] by a company called Dreams Come True, LTD:

Next some Kaiyodo figures. First a couple color versions of Lucanus gamunus. These are variations of the original Choco Q Animatales Figure, part of the Be-Pal special edition collection. Normally I don't go after mere color morphs unless they are readily available and cheap. Also, the 2018 Aquatales Calappa lophos crab. This is essentially the same sculpt as their other two releases, just a different base.

The next three images will be 2018 Takara Tomy A.R.T.S. figures.

First up two Dynastes hercules from the B.I.G. Beetles set. Really nothing exciting in this set this year, these are merely two color morphs.

Next the complete 2018 B.I.G. Insects set! This is much better. These are all new species at this size, sculpt, and color (well, at least for me). Will probably do a walkaround later of the Locusta migratoria, clearly the best in the batch! Wow!

Also, a 'steam punk' Coccinella septempunctata. Normally I wouldn't go for something like this, but luckily insects are so mechanical in their designs it actually works ok for me!

The Access Toys Rhinoceros and Stag Beetle sets, new for 2018. Neat! Beetle Guy did a review already so I won't. The Homoderus mellyi, Phalacrognathus muelleri, and Cyclommatus elephus are nice additions, not commonly made.

A Dynastes granti by 4D Master!

Lastly, a cheap party set I stumbled upon by accident. Not the best quality, quite generic (the ant looks like the same sculpt as the Battat Terra Insect Bucket figure) but I like them. We can probably assume the beetle is Dorcus hopei and the wasp is Vespa mandarinia. There were 6 ants, 2 each of the earthworm and cockroach, and one each of the others.

Nice new additions. My favourite, the crab.

Ralph by Lanard for "Rampage".
I am the Dinosaur King!

They count! That's an interesting...thing.  :P

stemturtle

Imperial or Sputnik (Bakudan) sea urchin, Phyllacanthus imperialis (Ikimon, NTC)
This is the shell or test of a sea urchin, with the pencil-like spines removed.
Diameter about 5 cm. or 2 inches.

This ornate echinoderm is part of a set of 13 urchin tests, representing 9 species, magnets and chains.
Sellers also offer a smaller set of 8 figures, excluding the imperial urchin.
Thanks to member brettnj for his excellent service shipping the figure from Japan

I agree it's a nice set. Do we have an Echinodermata thread under Animal Groups? You could start one! I can't really contribute but it'd be nice  :)
