Hello friends, this is the figure of Strap-toothed Whale (Mesoplodon layardii) Gray, 1865 of Lontic/Nayab - Sea Life. Total lenght is 150 mm. The overall body shape of the strap-toothed whale is fairly typical for a mesoplodont, except for the large size. Male specimens have large and peculiar teeth even for the genus; the teeth emerge from the lower jaw and grow upward and back at a 45 degree angle to encircle the upper jaw and nearly close it.

Lontic/Nayab is a toy brand that it is specialize in toy animal playsets. It has produced some figures of animals and dinosaurs with a really nice quality. This is one of the best examples of this.  Sculpt, colors and details are really awesome. It is really curious that it has done the water effect over its back. I Think that it is one of the best replica of this specie. I bouhgt this figure the last monday in a great store  ^-^.

This one was also boxed as Lontic "Antarctic Wild Animals" or the like. I needed to have it so urgently that I didn't care about the high overseas postage. Why should I, it's a Mesoplodon and it's the weirdest looking of them all! ;D
