Hi guys!  :)

I'm a prehistoric animal figure collector, but recently considered the idea of getting just 1 extant animal figure for my collection. I'd like it to be my all-time favorite extant animal, the orca! Since my preferred scale is 1:35, I was wondering if could you folks recommend a nice accurate 1:35 scale orca figure. I don't keep track of extant animal figure releases, so your help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers and thank you in advance!  ;)

While old, the Safari Monterey Bay Aquarium figure is in the 1:35 scale range. Looking at Blog reviews, Safari's 2019 model also is. Gwangi reviewed the 2018 Schleich model and scaled it at 1:39, not sure if it can get into the 1:35 range. I am sure there are others, too!

I am not an expert on this group, but I have the 2019 Safari model in my collection.

JimoAi

the Papo one can work as a smaller ecotype

Ultrazilla2054

the somewhat recent schleich one could work, its paint is kinda bad but it has a great sculpt

Thanks for the suggestions guys!  :)

Safari's 2019 one is the nicest I've seen, I think that's the one I'll be going for.

@bmathison1972 Would you happen to know who sculpted it?

No sorry I don't know who sculpted it. Perhaps @Shane or @sphyrna18 know (assuming they would be allowed to reveal such information).

It's been noted the Safari 2019 killer whale was sculpted without a blowhole, in case this is a deciding factor for you (it isn't for me).

I'm not sure who sculpted it, it was in development slightly before my time.

For what it's worth, newer examples have a blowhole added with a tampograph.

Oh wait, so now I may have to replace my Safari orca with the update?!?!?  ::D  ::D  ::D

probably not though; the absence of a blow hole isn't a distractor for me  ;D

@bmathison1972 @Shane Thanks to both of you!  :)

@bmathison1972 Thank you for the notice about the blowhole, I read that in the ATF review. Still, that wasn't something that would stop me from getting it, but of course, I appreciate the blowhole being added!

It's decided then, Safari's is the orca for me!
