Reference pic of an adult with most notable features being a smoother shell esp in older turtles. All current alligator snapping turtles from Yujin to Papo have really pointy shells with the bandai being the closest to an adult. All the other figures are either juveniles or subadults. I want a figure to justify that it's the largest freshwater turtle in the US and it has to be one representing an adult

Not sure. I assume the Agatsuma Entertainment figure is an adult, but it has a spikier shell (nevre thought about it)

I thought adult alligator snapping turtles had the conical shell "spikes" while adult common snapping turtles had smooth shells?

Adult alligator snapping turtle's spikes are not as prominent as the juveniles

The Kaiyodo red data alligator snapper is based on an adult, with minimized cones and a distinctly flattened shell. Note that only particularly old adults get the completely flat shells, and not all of them seem to. They reach maximum size long before the spines disappear completely.
