It's really 17cm??

When measuring from snout to the upper lobe of its caudal fin, yes. It does seemingly appear shorter than the orca and pilot whale, but when lining them up close, the tail ends up making it longer despite the other two clearly having more volume.
Ight, gonna buy one for myself

Now for the Chondrichthyes of the Monterey Bay Aquarium collection!

The Sawfish, Manta Ray, Great White, Great Hammerhead, Tiger Shark, Blue shark, and 2 Whale Sharks ( I got these from separate lots. The top one has a slightly different paintjob and is a larger cast).

I believe all of these are at the 1:20 scale, except for the Whale Shark, which is at 1:40, and is to scale with the large whales and the killer whale.

With these, plus my whales, I'm currently only missing 4 members of the MBA line: The otter pair, the Giant Squid (easy to acquire), the thresher shark, and the Pacific White-sided dolphin.
Does the hammerhead have nostrils on her cephalofoil? If you are unsure, you can show me images, especially from the front and side view of the shark's head

No, unfortunately.

Here's the Mojo/Maia and Borges Octopus

The mantle's about 3cm long, so it's roughly in the 1:20 scale when scaled to say, a physically mature giant Pacific octopus.

Unfortunately, there's no beak or mouth sculpted.

Overall, it's a nice figure considering not too many people talk about this one. No regrets.
Any octopus Experts know of the MNB Octopus works as a Giant Pacific?

bmathison1972

As far as I know, everyone considers it a common octopus

@JimoAi

Blaine's correct. AFAIK, the common octopus more or less official identity of this figure, atleast by Maia and Borges on the toy animal wiki. When this sculpt was part of Schleich's ''Seetiere 1:32'' collection, it was marketed as a Giant Pacific Octopus, though I generally prioritize TAW's ID. Since octopuses can change their color, texture, and contract their limbs, species that share the ''typical'' look aren't easy to tell from each other in toy form. Really the only difference I can note between giant octopuses and common octopuses are their size and the bulk of their arms.

I'm gonna use it as the giant pacific in my main collection due to it's size. Sure is a versatile figure

Haven't posted on here in a while. Gonna post a few updates.

I had Safari Ltd Sea Life 2016 Great White for quite a while now and I like it. At 17cm, it measures about 6.8 meters at the 1:40 scale, so kinda okay if I want to display an exceptionally-sized individual.

The CollectA Basking Shark I've also had for a while. This figure corresponds to a 8.8-meter individual at the 1:40 scale, which is perfect for a somewhat above-average, but not exceptional specimen

The last I have is the 2004 Schleich American Bison I used to have as a kid. It just arrived yesterday.

I am glad you like the Safari 2016 GWS; it's my favorite too even with the dull teeth

JimoAi

The safari great white is too small for me and the lateral keel is not pronounced enough. CollectA has the best size IMO but weakest in accuracy, so I carved larger gills and gave more grey for mine
