I found these fish near a bayou (Inaturalist observation for exact location: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/128213101)

I was just wondering what species they are for a video.

They're a species of sunfish in the Lepomis genus, family Centrarchidae. More specific than that and it's hard to say. I'm leaning towards redspotted sunfish (Lepomis miniatus). You're gonna need a net or fishing pole if you want a more concrete species identification.

Thanks Gwangi,

Gecko08 - we have a thread also for identifying real animals (not toys/figures), if you'd like to post such inquiries there:

this works too, but thought I'd let you know :)

reminds me of the lake by my grandma's old cabin; the sunfish would sometimes swim in your shadow in the shallow area, almost as if they wanted to get out of the sun ironically
