Hi Animals figurine lovers. I am from the land down under.
Its all started 2 years ago brought a bucket of 25 mixed animals for my son, and some animals i want to have not available in department stores. Once google it to discover these brands CollectA, schleich, papo, safari ltd, mojo, bullyland and now the obsession to collect as many different animals as i could.
Cheers

It's definitely sales based. The usual animals are made for mass sales, and those sales prop up the less common animal sales.
What it really means is get the figures you want right away. Especially Safari, since their first runs are always their highest quality.

As for multiple similar species... it's sales as well.
Some people would enjoy 3 zebra species. Most customers (in general, buying for kids) would see three of the same animal and not care.
The investment in three figures is the same, but a company is more likely to sell three substantially different figures at once.

Welcome to the site! It's pretty quiet around here, but peaceful, and there are a few of us that are here regularly. Your story is similar to my own. Bought a lot of toy animals off of eBay for my kid and there were a couple in it that got me hooked.
