Any figure you anticipate has disappointed you?

Any figure you are excited about but are solely disappointed by the in hand image? Vastly different paint job that is inferior, size, quality? For me, the collectA great white from 2015 is one. It looks so unpolished in the color scheme and the too small gills, which may put off most collectors but the ones willing to customise 490626228-5.jpg

Yes, I would say I have anticipated many figures, that have turned out poor, a few examples would be:
However some of these figures are in my collection anyway

The CollectA Asian elephant
Many repaints of the same mould by various brands e.g. CollectA tapirs, Schleich jaguars etc
The Schleich Bengal cat
The Schleich fennec fox (however it has grown on me, so I will buy it  :))
And I'm sure, many, many more
Don't I take long uploading photos!

Loon

I know there has to have been a few. But, when that happens I tend to sell them or give them to my niece. Most recently, I guess I'd say the CollectA Red Kangaroo and Joey have been pretty disappointing. I though the promo pics looked alright, but, I don't know. Between the vibrant coloration and the simplistic sculpt, it's definitely not sticking around long.

some things have disappointed because of size (Papo pelican; CollectA koala on branch; Safari honey badger) and in some cases sloppy/poor paints jobs (CollectA koala on branch, again; CollectA peregrine falcon; CollectA skunk). They have all since been replaced. I am sure others that escape me at the moment.

Sable Antelope

All of the Schleich figures are starting to disappoint me as of late. I have always adored Schelich but the newer figures seem to have become cheap; shoddy paint jobs and the proportions are off. Something about their horses are especially ugly. I guess they're fine for kids to play with but as a collector I sorely miss the retired figures. Some of the newer figures like the badger and Yorkshire terrier are ok and I plan on buying the gorgon.

The Papo figures' paint jobs are very hit and miss also. I been quite let down by their snow leopard and ocelot.

Arctinus

I was kind of disappointed by the Safari flamingo because it is so tiny compared to other bird figures that I have. I mean, I'm not that conscious about size, but still, I'm not a fan of such huge discrepancies.

And, like Sable Antelope, I was kind of anticipating the new Schleich figures for 2021 (even though I realised last year, when buying my first figures other than Schleich, that they're not as "realistic", so to speak, compared to companies like Collecta, Papo, and Safari), but was really disappointed by their (mostly) too cartoonish looks. And that was just at looking at the photos, without me even buying the figures. I can't believe it's the same company that produced the dromedary, koala, orca, Galápagos tortoise, giant panda, toucan and many other great figures. But ok, I'll stop bashing Schleich now.  :P

Sable Antelope

There's a difference between "bashing" and "criticizing" imo.

Like it's cool if kids are getting enjoyment out of playing with their Schleich figures but comparing the ones produced when I was a kid with the ones in production today (when I'm old enough to buy them myself 😫) are such a disappointment. They all seem so underwhelming as of late. Meanwhile Safari Ltd has improved in quality over the years.

I still have my old Schleich figures and there's no comparison in quality with the ones currently in production.
