Quote from: Isidro on July 29, 2025, 04:39:27 AMMeyer's asparagus is a true asparagus and is absolutely unrelated with ferns. It may wear the name "fern" in the common name maybe, but in the same way than an anteater is not related with an ant...
As I said in my comment, its not the the same as *edible* asparagus (such as I am familiar with). But yes, I did unintentionally intone that its a fern when its it is only fern like in its looks. But to clear- myers asparagus is NOT edible but is a common decorative cultivar. An asparagus fern (asparagus setaceus) is another which is not a fern and is actually toxic.

I apologize for my vague commentary before but this is an animal toy forum, I claim to be no expert in plants and was happy to do a little easy Google-ing to find more info for myself.

Actually my reply was for @bmathison1972 , who said "it seems Meyers asparagus is a kind of fern". Sorry for any misunderstanding.

I would never want to speak for another forum member but I think Blaine came from the same place I was with his comment.

Yup. But at the end of the day I don't care. This is pedantry masquerading as knowledge  8)  :*D  :P

I don't think you need to leave over this...

If you follow my "Zoonotic" social media (Facebook and Instagram) I recently got to take a mini vacation down to see my sister's family and then popped over to see the Dinosaur National Monument Quarry and the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum (phew!) near Vernal, Utah. And then we spent some time at the Bean Life Science Museum in Provo, Utah. It was a very last minute scrapped together vacation, but it was a ton of fun for me and my Mom and it was nice to go visit those places again. Anyway, I have photos of our trip on social media if anyone is curious but here is my haul!

And finally, my Toymany samples made it to my door after some postal service issues.

Lots of goodies!

Saarlooswolfhound

Yesterday was a happy day once I got home from work! I got a package that was a purchase from our dear friend Ricardo/Stripedhyena. Finally snagged some of those elusive AAA lemur color variants, a pair of AAA bootleg polar bear cubs, a pair of Re-Ment meerkats, and many other wonderful beauties! HUGE thank you!

Photo 2 is a group of my recent finds. A pair of Breyer dogs and some mini whinnies, I finally tracked down a mint copy of the new Schleich mule, a Safari Ltd. Nasutocerqtops, a W.A.I. dolphin and seal, and more!

I have been quite fortunate with my finds recently. I think those lemurs and the Safari dino are my favorites of the 2 batches!

bmathison1972

Every time I see the new Schleich mule I like it more and more. Don't think enough to replace the Safari version I have, but kudos to Schleich for that one!

Saarlooswolfhound

I agree. The Safari Ltd also a great model, but this Schleich is wonderful too. I have 2 that are scuffed a little and am looking forward to repainting!

PrimevalRaptor

The Nasutoceratops really is a highlight, one of my favorite recent-ish figures (and the frill variant that I like the most too!)
I also remember getting that Elasmosaurus as a kid, cool little figure.

That mule really is something, I don't think I've ever seen it before. The frog also caught my eye so I used Google lens to identify it and buy the entire set it is included in on eBay. Expect blog reviews of them in the near future.  ;D

Oh you got a set of Blip Toys frogs? I have a few of them myself. Their insects are also very well done!

Yes, still in the box for $20. I couldn't pass it up. I'll have to check out the insects too.
