Papercraft Animals

Debated for a while whether to put this here, in art, or even in dioramas.

I've semi-recently stumbled across some un-built Birdmobile models second-hand, and I've had the Backyard Birds book by Johan Scherft sitting around for a good two years now. Whenever I get the itch to work on them I always remember I don't have spaces to put them yet, and paper models could easily be damaged attempting to pack them for a move (hopes for this summer), so I haven't started them yet still.

Hence I decided to look into some new sources for home-printed models besides the ones discussed previously here* in the Birdmobile thread. And I found a few great ones.

The Japan Fisheries Research Agency has these particularly nice fish, crustaceans, and baby sea turtles. Despite the relatively simple construction many of these look real enough if you scaled them up and placed them on a wall I'm not sure many people would catch them right away. Or you could scale them down and use them as part of diorama backdrops.

Konica Minolta. This site has a few fairly stylized animals, similar style to many of the Canon Papercraft models.

Ichiyama's Paper Craft. Click on " Ž"ˆç" ,Ö " to reach the home page. A nice collection of small Japanese animals and a few others (mostly pets).

JAMSTEC Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. These are particularly simplistic deep sea animals, though that means they should scale down very nicely.

Furukawa. Some great and super easy to make looking arthropods. Click "型紙ダウンロード" below each picture to load its page, then click "型紙のダウンロードはここを右クリックして保存して下さい" for the PDF pattern.
