Hi all!
I will soon receive the Kaiyodo komodo dragon from the Reptile's lounge set and I'm not interested on it as komodo dragon because of size.

Do you think, given the sculpt, that it can be repainted as any other monitor (Varanus) species? I'm talking about this one.

Thanks!

Not sure if this answer is still relevant, but I anyway try.... the Komodo Dragon has a very distinct morphology compared to its peers. The species that comes closest to a Komodo`s habitus is Varanus varius, the Lace Goanna. Old and very well (over-) fed Lace Goannas may resemble a younger Komodo`s habitus, though they still have a much longer tail. While the Reptile Lounge figure is not an especially good resemblance of a Komodo, I deem it not a good stand in for any other species, maybe aside from Varanus/Megalania priscus/prisca. As we do not know how this species looked in regards of color and pattern you may go wild on this one :D I used a highly customized Bullyland Komodo for a Megalania stand in. In toy form, other species of Varanids are hard to come by. There`s only the Southlands/Mojo Perentie comparably easily available. The AAA casts figures are very good, but require some search (and all of them I am aware of are Varanus bengalensis/nebulosus in different sexes or growth stages) and then there`s the chimaira by Safari ("tree monitor").
