Halichoeres

My grad school advisor specializes on scorpionfishes and waspfishes, which are among the most venomous animals on the planet. But he's terrified of snakes, even ones that are nonvenomous. Weird how brains work.

I've been bitten or stung by a decent variety of creatures, but the creature that I loathe most in the world is one that can't do either: the filthy cockroach. I am at my most irrational and sadistic when I find a cockroach in my living space. Where I live now is much farther north than where I grew up, so thankfully I encounter them less often now. Nearly all other animals I'll simply put outside, but cockroaches I kill on sight. I used to kill scorpions too, but I probably wouldn't now (but again, too far north to find those anymore).

Big spiders especially our Dolomedes because they are big but also so darn fast. One minute you are looking at them and the next poof! they are gone, but where? Some other spiders I will let crawl all over me like our jumping spiders because they just look curious. I am the spider wrangler in our home I catch and release any spiders my wife or daughter see in the house big or small. After that any insect that I know can do me harm with a sting or a bite will give me the willies but friendly insects like millipedes, mantids or stick insects can crawl on me no problem as long as I see them coming.

I love all herps and fishes, and most insects. The only thing that really creeps me me out: ticks. They just get under my skin for some reason.  😜
I like turtles.

Beetle guy

 :D
Personaly I am not a fan of snakes, even if we have only one venomous species over here.
To beetle or not to beetle.

I forgot to mention ticks in my initial post, although they aren't nearly as creepy as parasitic worms (with the exception of swollen up ticks).
(a.k.a. Ravonium, on the DTF and STS)
