I've decided to start collecting reference books on certain animal species that interest me. Here is my first addition, Birds of the World by David Alderton.
I think it's a really good general reference. If you're looking for something that covers individual species in greater depth, this probably isn't for you. I liked it, probably since I am a layman and the artwork appealed to me.

Princeton Field Guides are also worth the prices of those series!!

Here I have an old favourite, the Macmillan Illustrated Animal Encyclopedia by Philip Whitfield. I really love the illustrations :)













As a side note, dinosaurs are also briefly mentioned, referred to as "magnificent dead ends". This book is pretty dated 8)
