Welcome back to the “Savannah Summer”! Hot weather often makes people want to find a nice, shady spot and just relax, do more later as the temperature dips. This method is also used by the largest mammal predator in Africa, the lion (Panthera leo). Like any cat, they are masters of lazing around, as well as hunting. They are a popular animal, and a lot of companies have made them over the years. Here, we see what Noah’s Pals made of them! Let’s take a closer look!
We start with the male, Lance. Thanks to the sexual dimorphism of lions (the mane), it’s easier than some of the Noah’s Pals line to tell which it is. He seems very relaxed, swishing his tail, looking out over his pride. It, along with the colours chosen, work quite well. Muscle, rib and even vein details are sculpted in well, really great detailing. He fits in the 1:24 scale, measuring 3.6″ long and 2.6″ high, a decent size.
Next, the female, Linda. She seems far more active, as if about to pounce on or chase down prey, looks really great! Again, the sculpting is fantastic, though I feel some may be a little put off by the head, it is a tad odd, but not horrendous. She measures 3.4″ long and 2″ high, pretty good.
Of all the pals sets I’ve reviewed so far, this is up there with the best of them. Well made, sculpted and (some) great dynamism. In spite of all the various lion models out there, I still think these are worth considering for a collection. They are part of the “vulnerable” figures, and are limited to only 20,000 figures, but they pop up reasonably frequently on eBay, so if they intrigue you, go for it. The heat is still rising, so let the “Savannah Summer” continue!!!!
