So since we apparently didn't have it, yet: Here's a walk-around of the majestic Doki Doki Doubutu "1/12 scale" model Shoebill or Whale-headed Stork, Balaeniceps rex Gould, 1850. The figure is retired and seems to be the rarest of the Doki Doki releases. Height excluding base is 123 mm, so the scale would be between approx. 1:10 and 1:11.
The wild population of this species is in decline due to hunting and habitat loss and IUCN lists it as "Vulnerable".

Wonderful! You know, we have one of the type specimens of the shoebill in the Nottingham Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall. You must visit some time! :)

Oh, many thanks, I'd love to! :) If only I find a way... but you never know!

Ana

I love it! I wish to find one to my collection some day  ::)

Congratulations, it's wonderful item! :D

Many thanks, Ana! :) It became an instant favourite of mine, too, when Helge (who had been searching for it for a long time) told me about it and then we both got the chance to get one. ^-^

Jetoar

I did not know that somebody had done a figure of this figure  :o.

Thanks, Jetoar! :) Yes, and unfortunately this one is very hard to find, too. :-\ I forgot how long it was exactly but Helge (postsaurischian) once told me how long he's been searching for it and I believe it was two years or so.

I hope that other brands will do a figure of this animal  ^-^.

I'm actually surprised that the major U.S. and European brands don't seem to have any, it's such an iconic and easily recognised bird (and a cool one, too!).

widukind

I love this shoebill too. I search around 1 year for him  :)

brontodocus

Well, then I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, too! :)

:D Ahh! So wonderful (WONDERFUL). This figure is a true treasure!
The fact that the Shoebill is my favourite bird or modern Dinosaur might be one of my reasons for that.

Yes! ..... and it was actually our Dr. Admin who ended my search by showing a Dinosaur orientated eBay-link in the DTF Classifieds section.
Looking at the seller's other items almost made my heart stop beating ... there it was :o!!
I think I've never clicked the buy-it-now button that fast ;D ... it was truly reflexive.

Thank you once again, Adam. I won't forget this :).

On one hand it's good that there aren't any other models of the species around - this makes the Phat! model even more special ;D.
On the other hand it's a pain in the a.. if you're not able to find and get this rare figure :-\ ..... as it was for me.
