Sawfish ( Safari Ltd. - Monterey Bay Aquarium Collection )
« on: January 26, 2013, 02:14:32 PM »
This is the Saw Fish of Safari Ltd. - Monterey Bay Aquarium Collection. Total lenght is 260 mm. This figure was realized in 1996 and currently is avaliable.

MBA of Safari Ltd have beutiful and amzing figures, but I think that this figure is one of the best figures of this collection. From my point of view, this figure is a accurate reply of this fish, because the details, stand, proportions are perfects. Colours are very nice. I think that it is a Longcomb Sawfish (Pristis pectinata)Bleeker, 1851.  This figure was bought for my father to me in 1996 in a Sea Life aquarium store (Benalmadena Costa, Spain) and she is (she is a female ) the first figure of MBA of my collection  ^-^.

It's an amazing and nice sized sawfish figure, and it's one of my favourite MBA figures. :) I have identified it tentatively as Pristis pectinata which is very similar to P. zijsron but the latter would have a first dorsal that would originate a little behind the pelvic fin origin.
