Starting something new on the form for 2022. And who knows, maybe it won't be popular, but thought it would be fun to try.

This is where you post the figures you want to purchase that are due to be released in 2022. Please note, this is not, and I repeat, NOT a wish list of what you want companies to produce, but rather those you would like to acquire as figures get formally announced.

Oooo nice participation everyone! Nice to see everyone's varied tastes and preferences.

CollectA

Yes
Green iguana
-Spectacular detail on this one, if it's too large for 1:12 I might try to tweak it into Barbaturex (even though that was closer to Uromastyx), but the real treat would be if CollectA pulls a big surprise on us and it's actually really big, supreme pterosaur big please!
Cooperoceras
-As soon as I saw this one I knew I would have to get one and try a little mad science on it involving some fishtank decor nautilus, if all goes as hoped I might even make a little tank with a few of them.

Probably
Green tree python
-A favourite species of some personal significance, but I'm not a huge fan of that pose. If it does turn out to be in (or passable as) 1:12 I will try to find some other snakes that could make good headswaps with them to have multiple poses (since this one doesn't look like it could really be reposed).
Pteranodon
-To modify into a female to go with their much larger male P. longiceps.
Smok
-If I can find another species it can realistically represent, since the feet of it are wrong for a raisuchian.

Maybe
Alpaca
-Not an animal I have much draw to, but if it turns out to be in my preferred scale I might get a few to use as livestock in dioramas, as I prefer them over sheep and cows and such.
Spinosaurus
Edmontosaurus

-If they end up close enough to 1:60 to realistically use as tabletop game figures.

Papo

Yes

European magpie
-A big time personal wishlist species.
Tit
-You don't find bird figures that stand on their own all that often, and Papo has been blowing these songbirds out of the park between this and last years robin.
Shrimp
-If it's in around 1:1 or 2:1 to go with my growing 2:1 inverts collection.
Hermit crab
-I can't help it, I'm a sucker for hermit crabs.
Protoceratops
-I know, I know, but I like monster dinosaurs and this one actually looks pretty original as opposed to just being deliberately shrink-wrapped.
Mosasaur
-Perhaps I just have a fundamentally different approach to life reconstructions from others, but I don't get all of the complaints. Adding speculative features will always win over shrinkwrapping and other provably inaccurate choices in my book, even if the speculative traits are unlikely and make a bigger impact on the overall appearance.

Probably
Spoonbill
-While more spoonbills have been made than one might think, not all of them have feet...
Clouded yellow butterfly
-If it's in around 1:1 or 2:1 to go with my growing 2:1 inverts collection.
Leatherback sea turtle
-Glad this got reissues as fast as it did, since I never did get one before.

Maybe
Hummingbird
-The colours chosen are very nice, but unless the paint is obscuring it the sculpting looks a lot less detailed than the others.
African Sea Eagle
-The sculpting is really nice but there are a lot of eagles out there.
Forest Snail
-If it's in around 1:1 or 2:1 to go with my growing 2:1 inverts collection.

Schleich

Maybe
Stork
-I have their older and much better stork, but this could serve as a number of different waterbirds with relatively minor alterations so if it ends up widely available I will keep an eye on prices.

So-TA
Yes
Hummingbird set

-Very nice detail on these and the idea of a perched hummingbird attached to a ring is pretty clever.

bmathison1972

@stargatedalek - my guess based on Papo's past releases is that the clouded butterfly will probably be 1:1 but the shrimp is more likely to be 1:2 or smaller

That does check out indeed. Although, given the colour and eye size it does look like the shrimp might be modelled after juveniles (commonly used as bait in fishing) rather than adult tiger prawns?

So-TA:
-hummingbird. I only want one of the males, I don't need the whole set.

Schleich:
-Tapir, maybe. I have to see photos first. I need a good Malayan tapir but I'm not ready to drop $50 or more on a single figure yet for a retired one.
-Loris, maybe. I need to see about the eikoh and natural history ones and make a decision.

Papo:
-African Buffalo. I wanted it before it was retired and I want it now
-Spoonbill
-Hummingbird, maybe. I'll probably get it just because it's so rare to have a hummingbird in figure form.
-African Fish Eagle
-Magpie
-Tit, maybe. Might like It better than the Furuta, but I'm not sure

CollectA:
-Green Tree Python
-African Elephant, maybe. I need to see in comparison to the mojo. I've been waiting for a CollectA elephant so I'm really hoping it doesn't disappoint.
-Green Iguana

Natural History loris is much bigger than Eikoh one, if that helps to your decission. Also I imagine that Papo great tit will be much bigger than the Furuta great tit, the latter is in a nice more dynamic position (in flight) but the Papo one is more detailed and better proportioned judging from images.

bmathison1972

@endogenylove - the Furuta tit is the Japanese tit, Parus minor, which was split from P. major. So, you can have both :-D

EpicRaptorMan

I have the Eikoh Loris which is rather small but I'm still okay with.
I purchased it whenever I saw, and was disappointed, by the Schleich one 😳

Which reminds me, when is Safari Ltd expected to unveil their 2022 models?

bmathison1972

Because the slow loris figures to-date are not marketed at the species level and generic enough, I have the Natural History figure to represent the Sunda slow loris and the Eikoh one to represent the pygmy slow loris (although I wouldn't be surprised if the Sunda was the basis for all of them).

Oh! Perfect! Thank you for letting me know. This tit has been added to my wishlist, then.

updated my first post with the remaining CollectA thoughts

At the moment my only possible purchase (but not necessarily to be bought in next year, I can wait more):

CollectA American bison

-Green Iguana

Some additions:
CollectA:
- Anglerfish, maybe. It's big...but it's so beautiful. I need to see pictures.
- American Bison. Gosh this is a gorgeous figure. The perfect Bison I've been waiting for.

Papo:
- I will be getting the Tit for sure now that I know it's a different species.

Ikimon:
- Sicklefin Lemon Shark, maybe. The opposite of the angler, it's so small but it's unique....
-Red Kangaroo, maybe. I missed out on the Southlands red kangaroo male. I like the Mojo 2020 Red, but I really really like the design of this figure. The picture we have looks like a decent size, but I'm not sure...
-I can basically say the same for the Devil, koala, and platypus. The CollectA devil and Koala are nice, but these are nice too...and I missed out on the Southlands platypus and I think this one may be worthwhile. I'll pass on the strange wombat though ;)
Always looking for new species...

Papo
Common dolphin

Tarlin
Crab set

Maybe:
Papo mosasaurus
Papo leopard shark
