The Nile Monitor,
Varanus niloticus, by Play Visions 1998, has a total length of 3 5/8 inches; 9 cm. This is a rare figure, but the 2002 Yujin variation is frequently available on eBay as a Water Monitor,
Varanus salvator.

Nile Monitor and Water Monitor
Credit to Varanus (aka Zopteryx) for reporting on the
Dinosaur Toy Forum that the PV lizard is a Nile Monitor, while the Yujin figure is labeled a Water Monitor. These figures by both brands are marked with the number 6. This is an inexplicable example of speciation by manufacturer. The Yujin monitor is cast in a softer plastic than the PV lizard, and appears to be distorted; not flat on the ground like the 1998 version. My Nile Monitor came from a box of reptiles by National Geographic.
