The word 'Chinasaur' is widely used by collectors to refer to dinosaur toys created by unknown companies but marked "made in China" (or unmarked and presumed to be made in China or thereabouts). However, there doesn't seem to be a similar term for animal toys. I'm surely not the the first person to wonder about this? Let me know if I've missed a thread.

If there isn't such a term, could we create one? How about 'Chanimals'? Or 'Chinamals'?

I have seen Chinamals used. And of course I periodically use 'Chinabugs'.

Oh, where have you seen it used - not on this forum, right? STS, maybe?

Chinabugs is good. :)

Chinamals can actually be really good. For example I got some chinamals that were a bronze corydoras and a Cortez angelfish!
Don't I take long uploading photos!

BlueKrono

Chinamals makes more sense. Chanimal sounds like Jackie Chan in animal form.
I like turtles.

Anybody want to do a poll?

Done, added to this topic. I also added a third option, Chinanimals.

I find it difficult to decide, because 'Chinamals' looks better on paper, but doesn't sound right when said aloud. It doesn't flow off the tongue.

It doesn't sound as satisfying as 'Chanimals' though, right? O:-)

I think it's because the word 'animal' is lost in 'Chinamals', whereas the word China is lost in 'Chanimals'.

Chinasaur sounds like dinosaur so it works well.
Similarly, Chanimal sounds like animal so it works well, in the same way.
But Chinamal sounds like...China-mal. So it doesn't work as well.

It is probaby just me!  :-[

I must be the only one who voted for Chanimals.  :P

This year. And Alzheimers runs in my family, it's the reason @bugsnapz no longer posts here. :(

But, I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking Chanimals sounds better!

It's fine, I realised it was a joke, I didn't mean to turn it all serious! :)
