Pelican Eel (Safari Ltd. - Incredible Creatures)

Walk-around of the Incredible Creatures Pelican Eel, Eurypharynx pelecanoides Vaillant, 1882. If you stretch it out it's approximately 420 mm long. Pelican eels can grow to about 1 m length but they are normally more elongate and wouldn't really have a larger head than the figure has, so the scale is more or less life size. I was about to write "the only true deep-sea fish Safari Ltd. currently offers" but it has apparently just been retired since I couldn't locate it on Safari's website anymore. :'(

I like this figure. I bougth this figure in a shop that they have safari figures (very rare in Spain).

Yes, I noticed that just when I wrote this thread and wanted to include a link to the figure at Safari's website and it was gone from there. :-\ I guess now is the right time to get one, seems to be still available through online stores (but for how long?).

Yes, it's so strange how huge the mouth is but the cranium itself is actually really tiny and doesn't reach much behind the eyes.
