I think this gecko set looks amazing. Definitely one I'm going to be saving up for.

Very nice! :) Although instead of four colour morphs of the same Eublepharis macularius sculpt I would have preferred more species in the set. The others seem to be Nephrurus levis and Uroplatus phantasticus, very interesting choices! 8)

I'm waffling so much on this one...so much money already going to Brett...so many more awesome things a-coming!

Kaiyodo's site has been updated to include the montane set (the last of 2014).

Not sure what the coccinellid is. It looks to be in the genus Coccinella; the translation is 'dimon beetle' but that's not much help. I hope it is more than a geographical variant of C. septempunctata :)

I think I have identified the ladybug, Coccinella hasegawai.

Yay, checked species description and agreed! :) It also explains why a coccinellid is part of a set of mountain animals: "Distribution: Japan (the
mountainous region of Central Honshu); South Kuriles (Uruppu & Etrofu)". Thanks for posting, Blaine. :)

Okay, I hope this is okay for everybody? :) I added a poll for the best 2014 Kaiyodo animal toy figure to this thread. Most of them are CapsuleQ Museum and there are a whopping 72 figures altogether to choose from. Since the other polls usually allow for one vote per 10 figures I thought it's best to make seven votes possible in this poll. I know, for Kaiyodo fans it won't be easy to choose the best seven, though.

I just voted and based on the first two voters I know who the other person it :).  Funny how: 1) Major companies shy away from arthropods, 2) Kaiyodo isn't afraid to tackle these taxa and 3) the arthropods are among the favorites among professional biologists on the forum. (you other companies here that way back there in the back row?). LOL  >:D

Well, at least Safari Ltd has the Cave Dwellers Toob and those Safariology Life Cycles. But I know, there are also collectors who have hundreds of mammals & birds figures and zero arthropods. But, yes, the release of more obscure species is something quite typical for Japanese companies and invertebrates seem to be much more popular in Japan. I can't wait to see the result of this poll in the end, who knows, maybe the Kaiyodo invertebrates remain the most popular?

Thanks for creating the poll!

I haven't voted yet, there are so many to choose from and I haven't even seen pictures of them all yet!

I see some photos are included sporadically in this thread. Would it be possible for someone in the know to group them all into a single thread (and add any missing ones)? Then I could add them to the first post for posterity and a handy reference for voters...

I still have image links to all figures in the Kaiyodo poll. I could add them to the first post today. :)

Done! :) First post in this thread now contains photos of 2014 animal figure releases by Kaiyodo, I hope this makes voting more comfortable (well, there are so many good figures it may even make your choice harder now).
