Spotted Hyena (Schleich-Wild Life).
« on: December 23, 2014, 12:52:37 AM »
Hello friends, this is the figure of Spotted Hyena (Crocuta crocuta) Erxleben, 1777 of Schleich-Wild Life. Total lenght is 70 mm. This figure was relased in 1996 and it is retired nowadays. The spotted hyena is a highly successful animal, being the most common large carnivore in Africa. Its success is due in part to its adaptability and opportunism; it is primarily a hunter but may also scavenge, with the capacity to eat and digest skin, bone and other animal waste. In functional terms, the spotted hyena makes the most efficient use of animal matter of all African carnivores.

Schleich are one of the oldest brands that they do figures currently. They have done new figures of some old replicas even their cubs, calfs and juveniles. This replica is one of their old figures. This figure is a very nice replica. The proportions of this figure are nice from my point of view. I think that. Details of hair are really good. The stand of this figure is nice. I bought this figure in a flea market two weeks ago ^-^.

This isn't the 1996 release, it's the repaint repaint from around 2004 or so. In North America at least, the product number was 14347
The original from 1996 looks like this:

This one was numbered 14139.

Strange--I was already collecting Schleich in 1991 and this figure didn't exist.

I go by this site, http://www.schleichtiersammler.de/00000093100baed23/01fe409c2d147b04b/01fe409c2e134a709/index.html

which indicates that the original was from 1997-1996, while your paint scheme was 2005-2006.

If that site doesn't show anything earlier, than it probably doesn't exist because they have a lot and it's very complete.

Now I understand.

The model was never changed in any way--so your version is still from 2005. They didn't even bother to restamp the year. Your is not the 1996 model. That one is almost orange, not pale brown.
