Spotted Wobbegong Shark (Lontic/Nayab - Sea Life).
« on: October 27, 2014, 11:55:44 PM »
Hello friends, this is the figure of Spotted Wobbegong Shark (Orectolobus maculatus)Bonnaterre, 1788 of Lontic/Nayab - Sea Life. Total lenght is 150 mm. Wobbegongs are well camouflaged with a symmetrical pattern of bold markings which resembles a carpet. Because of this striking pattern, wobbegongs and their close relatives are often referred to as carpet sharks. The camouflage is improved by the presence of small weedlike whisker lobes surrounding the wobbegong's jaw, which help to camouflage it and act as sensory barbs. Wobbegongs make use of their relative invisibility to hide among rocks and catch smaller fish which swim too close, typical of ambush predators

Lontic/Nayab is a toy brand that it is specialize in toy animal playsets. It has produced some figures of animals and dinosaurs with a really nice quality. This is one of the best examples of this.  Sculpt, and details are really awesome but the colors are stranges. It is really curious that it has done the water effect over its back. I Think that it is one of the best replica of this specie. I bouhgt this figure the last monday in a great store  ^-^.

Are you sure the colour is correct? I have never seen a green wobbeegong,

Colors are the only problem of this figure, because I said that the colors are stranges  ^-^.

Awesome sculpt! :) Hehe, I wonder if the person who was responsible for the paint design had a reference photo that had faded to greenish in sunlight or something? ;D

I have the same figure. It's the company--they make decent figures, but it seems they slip in the painting on several of them.
