Here is a very preliminary list of Extinct Animal Line Figures that I am thinking of making in various scales as determined by the animal's size.

-Dodo
-Passenger Pigeon
-Giant Moa
-Stellers Sea Cow
-Bluebuck
-Great Auk
-Carolina Parakeet
-Ivory Billed Woodpecker
-Labrador Duck
-Thylacine

I have others too, like elephant bird, toolache wallaby, some others I am thinking. I would try to keep these in a 1/40 to 1/20 scale range- some like the smaller birds would be in a larger size scale, I would want this line to sort of fit together in a general size range and relative scale would not be too important I think as I feel it would be more important to have them all look like a set when displayed together if you know what I mean.

Feel free to interact with this list- I seem to be bird heavy right now.

That looks like an excellent list!   Unfortunately, it seems the bird heaviness is no coincidence, most extinct vertebrates are birds to my knowledge.

I like the idea of any eagle- would have to look up a Haast's eagle as I am not familiar with it. I actually got the chance to sculpt a life size Bald eagle a few years ago, for one of the exhibits for a Civil War museum in Kenosha, WI. The exhibit was a soldier standing holding onto the perch that the unit had constructed for Old Abe, the mascot for the unit. The perch was a staff that the soldier would hold or plant in the ground, with a wooden shield shaped cutout with the U.S. flag painted onto it. there was a section of pole cut to sherve as the perch attached to the top surface of this wooden shield flag.
I bought a cast of a bald eagle skull to start with and had a great time sculpting it. I spent a lot of time on the feathers, and it turned out real nice. I had thought of someday making a scale version of this soldier with the eagle mascot on the perch.
I found it real interesting that this WI unit would take the eagle mascot into battle with them. He was at just about every battle they were in, flying overhead above the battle- which would I guess irritate the Confederates who would try to shoot it down. The eagel Old Abe live through the whole war, and ended up 'retired' living in the state capitol, where he had a perch set aside for him.
I would love to make a scale eagle sitting in a tree perch with a large fish held between his foot and the branch.

Haast's Eagle was a massive raptor that preyed upon the moa birds of New Zealand http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haast_eagle
Raptors (and eagles in particular) are my favourite kinds of bird. I have Safari's Incredible Creatures Bald Eagle, which is an awesome figure.

Yesterday I was talking in my class about the Haast´s eagle and his ecounter with humans  .

It might be cool to make a model of a moa being attacked by one of these Haast's eagles- the moa could be running and trying to avoid the eagle which could be already grasping the back of the moa- a two for one figure. It could be a very dynamic piece.

Definatly! Awesome! It's too bad I probably won't be able to get yet for a while . Whatever you do, please don't discontinue it. By the way, I know they aren't recently extinct, but I would love to see TITANIS, BASILOSAURUS, and THYLACOLEO from you sometime .

I sat down and sculpted a 1/20 scale spotted hyena over the wekkend- finished it in one session, I think it turned out pretty nice. It is a single animal in a stalking pose- which I realize now looking here- is real similar to the Safari one, although the legs are opposite of that one, and mine is more realistic in style and less 'cartoony'(not sure if that is the best term to describe the style of the safari one). I suspect we both were using the same reference photos from online google images. I will try to get some photos of the finished clay along with the finished clay of the 1/20 scale Sable antelope as well. I hope to mold these two real soon.

I guess it goes without saying that I need one. BUT...if you start looking over Mauricio Anton's art work and decide to paint mine using one of his hyenid patterns instead of the modern spotted pattern, that would be just fine with me!

Here is the clay sculpted pattern of a 1/20 scale Spotted Hyena taken before it was molded. I havent painted one up yet, but just got an order for the first one so one is coming.

So very pretty...I wonder who wanted one...

Incredibly pretty, and very apt for a logo, SBell  Dinonikes it's a great model, and, after showing us this, you have to show us your antelopes!

Great work! I especially like the fur on neck and shoulder, very nicely sculpted Congrats! I can't wait to see it painted!
