Well, looks like the lineup has been concluded. None of these figures look awful, but, with the exception of the Civet and the Pere David's Deer, all of them are easy passes for me.

So..they sign an agreement with a North American distibutor that is interested almost entirely in horses and farm...and we get a whole bunch of horses and a farm tube. Go figure.

The civet looks great though, so I'll have to figure out a way to get that. The way things currently are, probably Taobao!

The musk ox looks really great, the comparison with Safari's new one is totally in favour of Collecta's. I should add "judging from the photos", but I really think there is no doubt.

The hyppo and the sperm whale look good too, but not that exciting, even if I would like to see them in real. Size matters, too, about these animals.

Just curious: did Collecta release the measures of these new models?

If I ever find them sold individually I may get that miniature goose, and nothing from their extinct line particularly grabbed my eye either this year.

Makes it easier buying that wonderful giant lobster from Safari this year at least.

yes for a second year in a row I think Safari has dominated.

If I was a generalist, I'd buy the farm tube since I am a fan of taxonomically diverse TOOB/tube/box sets.

OK, updates are up. All mammals, and technically all hoofed mammals, now that Cetacea is within Artiodactyla  C:-) .

I think this is it for CollectA extant animals...

Nice models but I hope the lull in taxonomic diversity is a temporary thing as they work on new models for upcoming years.

If this is the same Savage Gear brand I know I'm pretty sure they aren't 3D printed in the soft material but rather the masters are 3D printed and then cast.

Sorry, yeah, that's it--the scan the fish to get a 'true shape' and then make them in their wiggly rubber!

OK, spent the last week doing lots of updates to Bug of the Day. Initially, it was to update all the scarabaeboid beetles I have acquired since late April (and trust me, there has been a lot). I updated 18 genera, including new species in Oryctes and Hexarthirus, and a new subspecies in Eupatorus. I should be getting something from Brett in the near future, after which I'll update a few more.

However, since I was systematically going through the posts, I added a bunch of minor updates throughout the thread.

Some good and bad news from the STS.
Good news, confirmed number of CollectA figures for next reveal, including extant animals.
Bad news, there will only be 3 models.

All I can really hope for next reveal is that the extant figures don't contain any horses and contain actually interesting (or even somewhat interesting) species of animal.

Update: It is confirmed that the above statement applies to all of the next reveal.

I should have pics of extant animals soon and will post as soon as I can. It's a holiday here so I may be away for the rest of the day...
