Tiger Salamander (K&M)
« on: November 21, 2014, 12:53:48 PM »
More salamander goodness:

Eastern tiger salamander, Ambystoma tigrinum (K&M). Length is 10.5 inches or 27 cm.

Belly is marked: "All rights reserved / © K & M Int’l Inc. 1993"

This figure is made of soft rubber.  The paint did not hold up well to my granddaughter’s play, so I touched-up the green spots.
A smaller model with yellow markings was also released, but I do not own it. Both color versions seem to be rare now.

Lovely, and a figure that's new to me, too! :) Oh, and it's also about life size, too. 8)

Yes, brontodocus. The tiger salamander is the equivalent of the fire salamander, although they are different families.
Abundant, but seldom seen because they frequent burrows.

Many years ago, I was driving in rural Minnesota on a rainy September night.
Dozens of tiger salamanders were crossing the road en masse, probably to get to higher ground to hibernate.
I was lucky to witness this phenomenon.
