I don't have a lot of pics left either, except for what was used for the banner. So, that being said, the CollectA leopard seal and secretary bird and Schleich moon (sun?) bear might also be worthy candidates.

There are twelve contenders now. I could start the poll, but I reckon there are still a few more toys we could add for contention?

Today we visit the mud crab (also known as a mangrove crab or black crab), Scylla serrata (Forsskal, 1775). This is an economically-important 'food' crab native to mangroves and estuaries in the Indo-Pacific [my mini diorama here might not be the best for this species, but it's currently the only marine one I have]. The figure on the right is a 'small' one by AAA (they also made a much larger model); the one on the left is by Kaiyodo (Aquatales Polyresin Series).

With the loss of so many images due to Photobucket, will slowly revisit these taxa-specific posts with fresh images!

Today we visit the Japanese crayfish, Cambaroides japonicus (De Haan, 1841). This species is endemic to Japan where it is considered vulnerable. This species is rather popular among Japanese manufacturers, and is often made in both brown and blue color variants:

above water, left to right:
1. Kaiyodo (Capsule Q Animatales - Tohoku)
2. F-toys (Creatures of the Waterside)
3. Kaiyodo (Natural Monuments of Japan)
4. F-toys (Creatures of the Waterside) [blue variant]

below water, left to right:
1. Kaiyodo (Capsule Q Animatales - Tohoku) [blue variant]
2. Kaiyodo (Natural Monuments of Japan) [blue variant - Special Release]
3. Yujin (Shrimps and Crabs Collection)

Thanks for this walkaround, Takama! While I am excited for this figure (and the pygmy hippo) by Safari, I have seen side-by-side comparisons of the two species as made by Safari and CollectA and I think CollectA's are a little better (or, I should say they appeal to me more for some reason). Still, I am definitely a 'Safari guy' and would definitely get this if I was a generalist.

Problem: many pics are gone! What can we do?

I know.  :( Photobucket messed us up. Anyone who wants to help fix the "new for" sections is welcome to. If people add images to the thread, I can copy them to the first posts. In any case, it is good to have them as a record.
