Kitan Club - Nature Techni Colour / Fungi (Kitan Club)
« on: May 01, 2014, 06:23:53 PM »
A group of well known species of mushroom/fungi. They're made in a soft, rubbery material, which mimics the feel of a real fungus. I thought that was a nice touch.

I'm not sure if it's okay to post these, but since fungi are closer to animals than they are to plants (and I don't think we'll be seeing a Fungi Toy Forum in future) I'll put them here anyway :)

I do not read Japanese so I don't know if these identifications are accurate. I'm just guessing from appearances, and most of them are no-brainers anyway. If anyone can provide a better one, please do so.

Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)

European destroying angel (Amanita virosa)

Shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes)

Stinkhorn (Phallus luteus)

Pseudocolus schellenbergiae

Truffle (Tuber spp.)

Hypsizygus tessellatus

I think we have a similar thread like this on the DTF, so why not start one here?

Has anyone ever spotted a figure of an animal in an unusual place, such as a movie or on television?

Here's an example: I was watching one of my favourite TV shows, Horrible Histories, and I saw this in one of the sketches:

I'm not 100% sure but could this be the AAA lobster?

It could be...since it would be more convenient to use a plastic one than going out and buying a real one, just to use in a short clip.

There is also a greengrocer in my town that used the AAA crab and lobster as displays in their windows to advertise their fresh produce. I was always freaked out because I thought they were freeze dried or something.

Bullyland / Albino King Python (Bullyland - Animal World)

I might have gotten the series line in the title incorrect, so I apologise for that :-[

Seems like this model would fit in nicely with some the of the Kaiyodo snake gashapons :)

Superficially, it looks very similar to the small version, but I think the details on this one are superior.

Comparison with the smaller version:

Shot of the tail, which is nearly as long as the body itself:

One of two adult Iguana sculpts for the Incredible Creatures line. This is the smaller and commoner version. I have the bigger, retired version also, and will be posting that soon, too.

Not much to say here, other than it's a great model :) Looks like another life cast.

Comparison with the AAA small brown gecko, which I have also made a walkaround of :)

We have a thread like this on the DTF, so why not one here? List your favourite sellers.

Here are mine.

H&H Winners' Circle Lots of everything, but I like it for the AAA casts.

Veghead A good site with lots of retired and rare models, but they do not ship outside of the USA, which sucks for those of us who live elsewhere.

Edit - Ebay sellers moved here:,745.0.html

The poor emaciated Parson's Chameleon :(

Thanks for looking :)

Safari Ltd - Other lines / Gila Monster (Safari Ltd)
« on: October 08, 2013, 02:31:28 PM »
Sorry, I don't know which exact line this one comes from. There is writing on the belly, but it's so hard to make out that the only thing I could read was "Safari" and "Gila Monster" :-[ So, mods, if you could put this is in the correct place, I would appreciate that :)

Anyway, I am finally happy to own this guy. I had been searching for a good Gila replica for a long time. I originally thought this model was made by AAA, but in fact, it is a Safari model.

Thanks for looking :)

AAA / Iguana (AAA)

I am thinking this model might be a sub-adult, since it doesn't look full sized (even though it's a big figure) Or maybe it's a female? Length is over 40 inches.

Because of the large size of the model, I decided to take advantage of the recent good weather here in the UK, and did some outdoor photography.

I won him for £1 on The model is in pretty good condition, apart from a few paint rubs.

Just for fun, here is a scale comparison  ;D

I also did a walkaround of the baby Iguana figure by AAA, here,517.msg4658.html#msg4658
I was going to photograph them together, but forgot to take the baby with me when I went outside ::)

Is this guy a spiny tailed lizard (Uromastyx)?

AAA / Spiny Tailed Skink (AAA)
« on: May 20, 2013, 02:33:55 PM »
Another skink :) The model has a rough feel, much like a pineapple, making me think this was probably another life cast.

Colouration is off of course, but I do like it.

AAA / "Iguana" Baby Iguana? (AAA)
« on: May 20, 2013, 02:24:53 PM »
I believe this is a companion toy to the larger adult Iguana model (which I don't have yet, but will get some day)

AAA / "Jumbo Tortoise" (AAA)
