Having multiple kinds of same species is not my type of collecting, but the effect is amazing!

They do make colour variants and even subspecies.  ^-^

Should I be proud or ashamed to say... I have even more of D.Hercules  :o ;D LOL

Speaking of D. Hercules. I found out that this years TAKARA Tomy gray D. hercules is the same as the one they released years ago in a set containing ten(!!) The none beetle in the set was the Asian hornet then.

Wild island canary (Serinus canaria)?

No, but you're definitely looking in the right direction (i.e. the animal in the picture is an island species)  :)

I should stick to beetles  :D
I have experience with badgers though. Worked for years as volunteer with badgers  :)

hey Marcel

That firefly is awesome! I definitely need that set too!

The scaraebaeoids marked 'NAT' are by Nihon Auto Toy. I think I have an Allotopus by them, plus other arthropods (crabs, giant isopods, etc.)

I have a lot of neat stuff coming in upcoming days so I will be doing several walkaround and set reviews!

Thanks!
do you have a pic of the alotopus? The fireflies are really hard to find I will post a pic of the box tomorrow.

I have acquired a pretty bunch of insect figurines last year, mainly focussing on completing some insect series.

On Yahoo auctions  not much news turns up. I quess this is also because of competition by the 'Mercari App' Japan were still a lot of beetle toys are for sale, but not easy to purchase via proxy services like Buyee. And I have most of the series I really like complete. Leaving some Sega mushiking intermidiate size ones, some Play Visions insects and other miscellaneous stuff on the wishlist.

Some figurines I acquired last weeks.

The 2 full sets of Epoch beetles (2x6). I will do a walkthrough/overview on Epoch's entire beetle output soon.

Coming with these bases.

Than a firefly from a series of 5: Pyrocoelia fumosa (nr. 3 of the series) In the base fits a battery to light a little led between the leafes, so that it looks like the glowing abdomen parts.
In this series: 1) Rhagophtbalmus obbai, 2) Luciola owadai, 3) Pyrocoelia fumosa, 4) Luciola cruciata and 5) Luciola Yayeyamana. Most of them unique species in figurine form.
I have seldomly seen these. They come with a information card. The bases are all different, depicting a habitat detail for the species.

Than an other series I did not know. The usual species for Japanese beetle toy makers, but I really like them! They look good as well. A wee bit bulky. The paint on the Lucanus maculifemoratus reminds me of the Kaiyodo Capsule Q stag beetles set. Along these four I know are at least two others; Dorcus binodulosus and Chalcosoma caucasus.

If anyone knows more on these let me know please!!

Copyright mark and  'NAT'.

Detail D. hercules

And some Sega Mushiking intermediate ones. These are mostly a little bit bigger than the Sega small Mushiking series (overview follows). The paintjob is more realistic and the sculpt to. But that counts in many cases only for the dorsal and lateral view. The ventral side is sometimes even less detailed than that of the small series' figurines.

Eupatorus siamensis.

Cyclomatus metallifer

I try to do a walk around of the complete Epoch beetle output.

Also I have won a curious set (not complete) of beetles, no new species but I never saw it before.

Thank you all! Yeah, that is a great set, I didn't know it!! It's on my wishlist now haha

The Alouatta is probably A. caraya, which makes my diorama wrong, because A. caraya does not live in the Amazon lol gonna need take new pics.

I'm really new to this, any websites I can look for it regarding japanese brands? I've checked Collecta, Safari, Papo and Schleich, I don't know other ones lol

Thank you again! xx

Here you can buy the whole set: http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/shopping/yuyou_g150553s01?lang=chs for 14 US dollars, This is not including the gray hercules I think. When these set arent sold by shops anymore, the prices go up very much because the single figurines and whole sets are considerd collectors items.
Buyee is a forwarding service I have used for 7 years, I can recomend them when buying from Japan.

How Buyee works
You will have to make a Buyee account. Their website is in English as well. It is handy if you have a PayPal account.
They will buy your item and charge you a fee. They will do the purchase and let you know when the items arrive at their wearhouse. Then you choose a shipping option and make payment for the domestic shipping (seller to Buyee) and international shipping (Buyee to your house)

Welcome to the forum! Nice pics!

This set was released in 2015 by the Japanese company Tomy Takara A.R.T.S. The blue/gray D. hercules was a secret figurine with the set. It is still for purchase on some Japanese sites like Buyee and Rakuten. This is the Japanese for using google ;-) If you need a link where to purchase let me know. below some pic's found in google.

I quess this is new Ikimon stuff for 2018.
The butterflies do not seem to be 3D. I think it will be resin encassed pictures.

For the animal species Homo sapiens ;-)

Butterfly set with collecting pouches.

Marine life themed sets.

Photo's from the Ikimon Twitter account.

I will be posting more active in two weeks.
Than some deadlines are taken care of. 8)

The Japanese manufacturers' (my collecting source) animal output is at a all time low. ;-(
Especially Kaiyodo isn't even a ghost from what they made in the years 2014/2015 when it comes to animals.

I have some nice newly found old stuff though!
Be back in a bit!

PS:
I miss Brontodocus on the forum. Hope he's allright.

I like the poses of the hanging axolotls...but it makes display harder! I might have picked up at least one if they'd been wild colour...

I agree, I like the 'drifting' poses in axolotis, toad and frogs in the Kitan series.

Again, what a marvelous collection!! Thanks far posting!
