That's awesome! I don't think, even before I reduced my collection, that I had or 27 of any one species!

Spotted hyena might be the most frequent, but even then not even close.

Okay, check that...if my database is correct, I have 26! If I can get my hands on the PNSO one...or count the non-toy ones...I'd be at about 30!

There have been more items added to their site, including this sperm whale:

http://www.mojofun.eu/product/sperm-whale/

Which, I have to say, looks exactly like (and I do mean in every last detail) the Papo sperm whale being retired just now.

Am I the only one seeing this?

You can definitely see the M&B influence in some of their other new sealife--like the 'bull shark' that is clearly based on a sand tiger shark.

It's because this whale along with several other recent mojo sea life figures actually belong to another company called Maia & Borges.  These figures get licensed out to other figure manufacturers occasionally, and thankfully so.  Some of the whales were produced by Schleich around the early 2000s and were getting very difficult to find for a decent price until Papo & Mojo started making them as well.

I'm pretty sure that's a Toys R Us set. Or was, anyway.

There is this small coati. It shows up in various small sets, although I can't recall the main source.

Based on the white of the face it's probably closest to a white headed lemur. But generic Eulemur can work.

Sbell, thanks for reporting about the suggestion on STS that the species is the
white-headed lemur, Eulemur albifrons. The female white-headed is reddish-brown with dark feet, which is a good fit. However, the face and muzzle are dark gray, which is not a good match for the Zhongsheng figure. See an image on Wikipedia. Too bad the figure was not marked with an ID.

Well, it's the closest species to the model. Seeing as they likely had to scrub the inscriptions, it was bound to be a generic species.

The below photo is the one that most represents the model. It's still not perfect, but many animal models miss things...look at the aye-aye models, most of them just don't seem to get the weird hands right.

On STS the suggestion was made for a White headed lemur Eulemur albifrons. Other than some seeming to have poofier heads, the overall shape and colours are about right.

Glad to help! When I saw them I thought of you!

It is labelled 'langur' but...no. And I don't recognize who it might be copied from. It does look lemur-ish to me, but that's about it (certainly not a langur)

And ideas?

You're right, Sbell, it's not a langur, which is a kind of leaf monkey.
I cannot name a species of lemur that is an exact match for this replica.
I ordered one that should arrive any day. Then I will post a photo to show if the belly is marked with an ID. Looks very similar to the ring-tailed lemur by Wild Safari, 292229. We'll see.

Someone on STS id'd it as the Safari lemur with a...unique paint job. Kind of brown lemur, with the wrong tail. There are a few others from the same seller that appear to have been slightly altered. And others that don't appear to be altered at all!

So...I came across this today. It is from a Taobao shop that has several Safari, papo, Schleich, etc models. I don't own it, but is has me curious (of the few modern non-carnovrans left in my collection, lemurs are among them)

I will be posting more active in two weeks.
Than some deadlines are taken care of. 8)

The Japanese manufacturers' (my collecting source) animal output is at a all time low. ;-(
Especially Kaiyodo isn't even a ghost from what they made in the years 2014/2015 when it comes to animals.

I have some nice newly found old stuff though!
Be back in a bit!

PS:
I miss Brontodocus on the forum. Hope he's allright.

Is there a reason for the paucity of new Kaiyodo figures? Intentional or just random?

I think Brontodocus is busy, as the rest of us. :)

Kaiyodo is still pretty active with making figures...they're just not being very interesting about it. Especially for those of us that like animal models. There are a few sets coming apparently, but nothing truly unique.

Is it just me, or has it been especially quite here at the ATF in recent months? Is everyone okay?

I haven't been active because I haven't had much new to share. Also I have been occupied with my 'real' beetle work, plus lots of publications and projects in my Parasitology profession :).

I just haven't had a lot to post lately, time and such, etc.

Okay, kind of spamming the forums...but...

They're here!

The new Ancient Fish from Favorite!

Also, a PNSO Glyphoderma! One of the 2 I wanted (I already have the Himalyasaurus)...but couldn't get the hyena.

Still, Big ancient fish? Good day!

There are so many now! And there are definitely a few that I still want (my collection has shrunk, but it's not exactly stopping!)

Plus, I need to figure out some kind of fun fish to commission from you!

Please make it pre-Cenozoic.

My head went to Aspidorhynchus or Saurichthys, something like that...

Well, here it is--the last shelves in the room! There are other models, scattered about the house...and I will get to those eventually (which is why so pretty obvious models are missing from here...like the Leedsichthys and Ptilodus).

But this lot is entirely prehistoric mammals...and rays. So many rays!

Hope you enjoy the shelves...as they were a few weeks ago! There are always new things here and there to add!

19
So, here I am on the last stretch...top of the last cabinet side!

More fish! Big ones this time! And the beginning of the mammal shelves...

20
And the bottom half...it's a marine bonanza! All sharks, larger fish, and marine reptiles!

As a kid, I would never have believed there would be this many shark toys...I remember when such a thing was pretty much an impossibility.
