I have to recommend the Safari piranha, I have one and quite adore it.

I've looked at those Bandai fish in the past but I could never justify buying the entire set for myself with so many being repaints. Can't wait to see some up close shots and have some ID's.

Getting only mammals would be a shame. Though if that long list was deliberate, maybe we've still got hope for some nice fish. ;)

Those suckers are great, I'd love to track down that line someday.

12 and 1/2 inches, looks like the AAA spiny lobster has been dethroned!

Positive for Brett here too, got a wonderful huge lot of Kaiyodo.

I have a dozen or so much smaller versions of the translucent roach, they're probably around an inch long. Interesting to see the mold is still in use in some form so many years later.

I really hope the vinyl model this time is the arowana, oh wouldn't a 1:1 scale arowana be a thing to behold!

I would say the CollectA sculpts are on-par with Schleich, although the paint and plastic may not be. If you were willign to do some quick touch-ups you'd probably end up with a very similar final result though.

If there are any extras both of you already have don't rule me out either! Especially anything in 1:1 scale.

Those fantasy beetles are really neat, I love the consistency of the fictional traits between them, makes them that little bit more real feeling.

I don't think it's that bad, it looks more like long fur clumping together than quills, but the same could be said for the real deal. It would be hard to do better without making it huge.

Volume 2 has some particularly wonderful pieces! Although that Eudocima tyrranus is also quite beautiful.

Most of the recent toobs have been going quality over quantity, quite pleasing to see them improve.

Your posts alone make the atf a reference to rival the Animal Toy Wiki, as far as arthropod figures go!

Thanks! One of the reasons I post them is also for my own personal reference, in case I need to go back and check something.

I wish specialists in other groups would do more similar things (Sean, fish; Stargatedalek, birds; postsaurician, reptiles, etc...).
Yah, I've definitely fallen behind on walkarounds, or even acquisitions for that matter. I have probably around a half dozen birds just from the past month that don't have any photos here period. Thanks for the reminder, I should get some new bristol and start catching up.

These might be 2018 releases and so maybe it's time to start a 2018 child board?
I had thought the board might have been for something else Kemono Friends related, but it clearly says Kaiyodo so you're right these are 2018 releases.

I believe the Sufobi Toybox Emperor Scorpion is also scheduled for spring 2018, but the crab (Gecarcinus?) is probably coming in winter so it might be 2017. I'll try to dig up the photos of them for the new thread.

Picture courtesy of Brett as usual!

New (coloured versions, there have been grey plastic ones for a few months but no photos of the realistic counterparts until now) photos of upcoming Kaiyodo Kemono Friends tie-in.

Shoebill and serval were sure-ins (which is great, because I'm going to want both), but we also seem to getting Rhinoceros, and a zebra and lion (possibly with no humanoid version).

I'm a big sucker for these cutesy things, but the shoebill looks particularly nice in general. I hope these will be articulated.

Those are the various Safari ltd mudpuppies. The green and brown are discontinued.

First an emperor scorpion by Chap Mei. I had seen CM figures on the Dino Toy Blog and did some snooping to see if they made insects, and found this scorpion on eBay! If you can get past the color, the sculpt is very nice, easily comparable to the Safari LTD Smithsonian figure!

I was tempted to get the set when I saw it, but it seems to have disappeared already from stores. Don't let the colour fool you, it came with one in more realistic colours and the implication seemed to be this one was glowing under fluorescent light. It was some sort of "X-Files-ey" set.

Positive for froggie!

Helped me find some things I'd been eyeing for some while.

Just my two cents... I didn't like it even as much as the 2005 one simply because the fauna biodiversity of the island was pretty minimal. They were more focused on playing to every Vietnam War trope.
I think that might be in part why I liked this new one better, the 2005 one had so much wasted potential with the sheer bulk of world building that we never actually got to see.

Can this (and others in the set) come off the bases? Personally I like bases but I know there have been grumblings from some people that recent based Kaiyodo figures like this are essentially permanently attached to the base.
I don't think the frilled lizard can be removed but the others all seem as though they can.
