What a funny figure. I wonder why they choose that species over, say, a spider. With no marking to state otherwise, I'm sure that's what most people would think it is anyway! ::)

Thanks, I've asked about these at the DTF. Curious.

Archaeopteryx siemensii and Protoceratops andrewsi [Unknown] full body wall mounts.

Hey @stargatedalek this reply is way way late, but I have this pair as well. Mine are marked 'SilverCorn', do yours have any markings on the back? I'm trying to rack my brains to remember how I got hold of them, but my memory is terrible! I don't remember buying them so I suspect they were given away with something else I bought. Cereal, maybe?

I just noticed if you click on the section 'Reviews and Walkarounds' or, on right bar, 'Read Recent Reviews and Walkarounds', all of these new Yowies reviews are not showing up? Did something not carry over when the child board was made?

Well spotted. Yes, I need to add the new child boards to the list...will do it now.

Any thoughts on my suggestions to rejig the forum?

Would general discussions for a certain company be intermixed with walkarounds? Personally I like walkarounds and reviews distinct (easier to search among them)

Yeah, but we only really have one general discussion topic per brand, so I was thinking of pinning (stickying) them to the top of each board. Other more general discussion in the Lines section can be moved to the 'Animal toys (general)' section, while the "New for..." threads could, but don't necessarily need to, be in a separate section.

I decided to keep the reviews and walk-arounds separate.

Walk-around of the Incredible Creatures white-lipped snail (Cepaea hortensis) by Safari Ltd. The sculpt is very good. The colours are a bit more vivid than in the real animal. By my estimation, the model is about three times larger than life size. The figure was retired in 2014, which is a shame, since good snail figures are a bit thin on the ground.

Animal toys (general) / 2019 hopes and dreams

We haven't had such a thread for a few years, but now is a good time of the year for it. What new releases would you like to see for 2019!? Any specific species, or animals in specific poses, and which companies?

You never know who might be watching this thread...  :))

I'm interested to know how members discovered the ATF. I've set up a poll with options, but feel free to elaborate!

...odd figures by unknown brands are among my favorites. I'll have to fill up this child board some more!

Please do! And you never know, some readers might just be able to identify one or two.

I've created new walk-around child boards for Lontic/Nayab, Unknown manufacturers, and Play Visions.

I was surprised this figure hadn't be featured in an ATF walk-around yet. So, here you go, a walk-around of the Wild Safari - Wildlife zebra by Safari Ltd.

Mammals represent! :P

Congratulations, great sets. 5 per set!? Where from?

Walk-around of the crocodile hatchling with egg by Safari Ltd. (Incredible Creatures line).

Yowies / Re: Attwater's Prairie Chicken (Yowies - USA)
« on: June 20, 2018, 11:04:45 AM »
'Chicken' is a bit of a misnomer as this genus is actually a grouse. Common names can be misleading, which is why scientific taxonomy is so important. Anyway, interesting figure. Are there any other toys of this genus or is it unique?

It looks amazing! What an amazing job you did.

And now we know the origin of your avatar. :D

Walk around of the barn owl (Tyto alba) by Furuta (ChocoEgg Series 6). It is in a sort of hunched over pose so in the last photo I show its face full on. It looks a little startled! :)) The pin in the first photo and my thumb in the last photo give an intication of scale.

Forum business / Re: Image hosting problems
« on: June 17, 2018, 09:55:41 PM »
I'm using this thread to talk about general image-hosting problems. I've been browsing the forum and been surprised by how many defunct image links there are. I'm not sure if there's a different explanation for each host, but I'll list them here for consideration... and perhaps we can find a solution going forward.

Photobucket. This one goes without saying, and has its own thread: However, I think Photobucket reversed their policy of charging for third part hosting, so many Photobucket-hosted images are now working again. For now. I wouldn't trust them not to do it again, so absolutely a host to avoid, although I've put the purge on hold for now. Of course, some Photobucket links are not working - they just show a "Photo not found" icon, so I guess those members have deleted the photographs from Photobucket but left the defunct links on the forum. @tyrantqueen seems to be a victim of this host.

Imageshack. These images are not appearing even if one goes direct to the image URL. @Jetoar (who will fix his images in due course), @Varanus, @werb for example, all seem to be victims of this image host. I presume Imageshack have changed their 3rd Party hosting policy, does anyone know?

Dropbox. Again, these images are not appearing even if one goes direct to the image URL. @sbell seems to be a victim of this image host (although some links are broken, while other links are not).

Upic. Images aren't appearing because the host doesn't seem to exist any more. @bio-boy seems to be a victim of this host.

Servimg. Images aren't appearing because the host doesn't seem to exist any more. @Takama seems to be a victim of this host.

Most of my images work. However i did noticed that some do not appear anymore  :-\. Its not just on here, But Also STS forum.

Funny business with your host?

Occasinally.    They have hiccups from time to time. But i used it forever.

At least they dont tell me to disable my Ad Blocker, which is why i abandond Photobucket in the first place.

About Google images

I tryed using it as a Hosting site.   But there is no way to host an image, and you will have to copy the URL to post it, and the URLS are HUGE. I tried to post a walkaround on STS using this method, and the STS server thoght I was a spam bot, and had to do a test to prove i was not :-\

And I had no idea that Photobucket demanded that, although it makes sense for a business model that's primarily ad-driven. What's the saying? "If something is free then you're the product".
