Jackrabbit, pair (Noah’s Pals by Caboodle! Toys LLC)

Easter is here, and whether you see it as a time of worship or to gorge on chocolate, it is a great time of year, celebrating birth and rebirth. This time of year is often associated with fertility, hence the eggs and, of course, rabbits that are seen around this time on shop shelves. Hence, I am going to review one from this group, the Jackrabbit. Specifically, it’s the Black-Tailed Jackrabbit (Lepus californicus), a desert hare found across Western America and Mexico that breeds in Spring. It is quite common, and is hunted by many animals, as well as suffering from a lot of parasites. Here, we find a hare pair, curtesy of Noah’s Pals. Let’s take a look!

We start with the male, John. John is very alert, sitting with his magnificent ears high up. Maybe looking out for predators. The pelt is quite dark, not impossible for the species, but rarely quite so uniform. The Jackrabbit pair are one of the smallest sets in the line, second only to the platypus, with John being a mere 1″ high and 0.4″ wide. Not in scale with many lines outside other 1:24 lines. I really love the sculpting on this model, they did so well getting the fur texture in, despite the tiny size. Pretty great.

Next is the female, Juliet. She seems far more relaxed, sat and looking around, ears less erect than John. The pelt here is more brown, which can be seen commonly amongst Jackrabbits, nicely showing the diversity of this species. Like John, she is pretty tiny, measuring 0.9″ high and 0.5″ long. Gotta be careful storing these two.

Juliet

This is a lovely little set (emphasis on little) and does a good job showing the variations within the species. There aren’t many models of the Jackrabbit, and while I won’t say this is the best, it is definitely worth considering. They are long discontinued, so eBay is your best bet if you want to get this pair of cuties.

Happy Easter all!!!
